@Kingsmama shes not really a true pocket pit, but i call her one. shes the runt of a litter, on the verge of death when i took her out of that house. she is about 4 and weighs a mere 35 lbs at her heaviest. shes extremely small for a pure breed pit. her sisters outweigh her by almost 50lbs!
I agree, well just dogs shouldnt be stereotyped. I have a german shepard (phoenix) and coonhound mix (penny) both are such sweethearts. However I've never had bad experiences witg dog, I was the little girl who walked up to dogs tied on chains round me neighborhood
@adensmommy0803 I'm not trying to sound bitchy I just like to clear up myths on pitbulls as I love mine and like to help change peoples minds. Between a pitty, rotty, and German shepard a pitbulls has the weakest bite.
I feel so much better after posting my rant just because I was expecting more negative feedback. Thanks to all dog lovers with or without pits. Its nice to know not everyone is a pit hater
I agree 110% everyone one I have ever met n all my friends that have one r great they r so sweet n great with kids of all ages. It depends very much on how they were raised. One of my friends has two of them with a four n a two year old children the dogs let them do anything dress up piggy back rides anything! N they play so good with my two labs. My other friend has one with a 14 month old n she let's him crawl all over her pull her ears n tail use her to help him stand up n she doesn't mind at all. N again she plays so gentle with my lab pup they r best buds!
I love pitbulls. I love animals in general, actually. I grew up with Golden Retrievers. Mine was a typical sweet natured Golden, but his dad was crazy! He had a reputation for biting anyone who messed with him. He even protected my dad from a bunch of cops (long story). He didn't get shot by the cops (amazingly >_> ) but he was able to keep them out of the yard my dad was hiding in.
I don't think dogs should be stereotyped by the breed. Even fighting dogs can be successfully rehabilitated to be normal pets.
@mrsharber - and like I said I wasn't for sure. If it was the 2nd or not I couldn't remember. And I assume most ppl understand that a dog doesn't have a mechanism in their mouth to keep It from opening its kinda silly to think that. Which is why I say the term lock jaw is an expression not an actual physical feature.
I have one and also a golden retriever. I love my dogs but when I brought Jaden home i'll admit I was nervous as to any little movement they made. Lol now Bailey(pit) is like a nanny, he's under my foot 24/7. Miles(golden) couldn't care less. Do I still trust them to be left alone with him.. no, but that's with any dog tho.
People get very confused when it comes to dogs......I have a mastidor a lab mastiff mix n the meter reader refused to read my meter unless she was in the house....she's still a puppy only 11 months old n wouldn't hurt anything but the neighbor cat lol she's on a thick cable when she goes outside.....idk just because she's 120lbs already people think she's vicious even though she's wagging her tail lol
