2 sacs and then 1

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
does anyone know what happens when you have an u/s and there is one obvious sac and then something that looks like a sac next to it? thats what my u/s looks like.... the one next to it is about half the size of the other and we cant tell if it is one or two... my hcg levels are not super high right now so i cant tell with that... twins run in my family and i am overweight so my risks are a little higher for them... do you know what will happen if i had twins and only one of them is developing?? do they do a dnc or does your body flush it out? anyone else thought they had twins and then end up with only one? (kinda hoping for the twins)

  • Twins run on my dads side I want twins also. I think it could possibly flush itsself
  • Twins and triplets in mine. I have an u/s on Monday to check for multiples cause I'm larger than I should be at 10weeks. If it doesn't develop it usually is just reabsorbed from what i have heard. It could be that the second is developing a little later than the first too!
  • I had two sacs at my first ultrasound but there's only one baby in my uterus right now. Dunno what happened to it
  • It's called "vanishing twin".... one doesn't develop. Sometimes your body absorbs it, sometimes you miscarry it. It just happened to my sister-in-law. :'(
    I'm sorry...
