  • @azmom im working part time until baby is here than ill be a stay at home mom. Im 14 weeks now. I want a good companion that follows me and is playful. yes I would be able to have them groomed that often. We are pretty active. I would walk him everyday for sure. I live in nebraska. I guess its a bit dusty. I don't mind the dog hair flying around. I have a cat who sheds badly. Yes I could contact vet. We have a med sized fenced yard. I don't mind barking but don't want a really yappy one. Hubby and my mom can help me. I've never potty trained a dog before. Yes am sure about getting one now. Its gunna be a lot but I want to have it now so its potty trained ect before the baby is here.
  • I personally think mutts are the best. But like someone else said you have to think the shedding, hyperness, how well the breed is known to get along with infants, and their known medical issues. And of course keep in mind that puppies are very very very difficult to deal with. I've heard mothers say that puppies are more difficult than new borns. I've fostered a lot and will personally never get a puppy. All dogs I've actually owned are at least a year or so. Just do your research! every breed you think of look all this stuff up. I'm a groomer too and I see plenty of people not think about the grooming and everything else that goes with it and end up regretting it. If you get any dog with long hair remember you need to brush it almost daily other wise it gets matted and tangled and may need to be shaved. I have soooooo many people shocked at the fact that it needs top be shaved if its so mated that you can't even take a comb through it. And this includes not only yorkie type dogs but golden retrievers as well.
  • @kara_lamek ooooh I like the mini proms the best!! That's what I've been looking into getting! Tell me all about your dog: ) can u post a pic?
  • Depending on your lifestyle but my golden retriever and pit bull are high energy, lovable dogs. They are still not used to walking with the stroller, but it's been to hot to actively train taking the baby outside.
  • @mommyhanny I posted a link above earlier of her. Mines a rare color. She's dark chocolate brown with amber colored eyes. She is full grown at 5 pounds. I have her fixed which made her gain a couple ounces. She's a very loving dog and is so human like! She winks at me all the time lol she only barks when she feels threatened. She's a big people person. I groom her myself. But I just trim her lol I brush her every other day usually. She sheds puff balls Haha but I want another one desperately but my fiance said no cuz he doesn't want me overwhelmed with 2 dogs and a new born. (Im due in feb) but ill get another. Lol chloe bear is almost 2 and has her full coat! GET ONE!!!! I got mine for 450 so don't get over charged.
  • @kara_lamek omg how cute! Does she sleep with you? The lady who breeds them near me wanted 1000. But I wont spend that much. Where did you find yours? I ve seen them on the net but idk about buying one that way.
  • @mommyhanny Yeahh she cries if she doesn't sleep with me lol she lays on top of my head or on my stomach. She's spoiled! I got chloe from a breeder in nothern Mississippi. I live al alabama. Online will be way over priced. Look around for local breeders in newspapers and such. Chloe is registered too so don't let them fool you! You don't need a champion bloodline lol just a cute one!
  • I have 7 (yes seven) pure breed pit bulls
I absolutely love each and everyone of them! They are great dogs! Easy to train and very attentive. I do not have a fence but can let them run the yard freely without any of them leaving the yard. They love our attention and will sit in our face until we acknowledge them b4 going to play. They r only aggressive if they feel like someone is invading our home and even then its just barking and grawling.
  • I'm assuming since u said pom u like small breeds? .........Lol I agree mixed breeds r the best but if we suggest a few breeds that might fit her maybe she could go to pound n find a puppy of those two breeds? The pound always has litters of pupps......k let me do sum thinking n ill get back to you on my suggestions...Lol n u may hate them. But ill try...in the end its all up to you: 0)
  • I have a yorkie and he is a good and smart dog. He listens well
  • Lol @rossbabies....my pit if we r out w her she will stay in yard second we forget she jumps our 6ft brick wall to go visit our neighborhood n everyone knows her they r great dogs shes a pill but I couldn't get her to protect our yard if I put a gun to her head....my Dane tries to protect but after they say hi shes done all wiggles....also have a chatahula hes a chicken n my shihtzu sweetest thing ever.....love all my dogs but ive always owned border collies n honestly there the best breed in my eyes Lol just not for everyone: 0)
  • Okay so my number one is a cavalier king Charles spaniel great all around dog! Happy friendly grooming is basic healthy trainable not yappy ive never come across one that I didn't like or
  • Stupid phone.....or who didn't like me.....others r papillon can b hyper n some yappy but for most part very trainable n lovable sturdy dogs.........bishon frise grooming is high maitnance but very friendly sturdy trainable can b hyper........I only don't say Pomeranian because ive come across a lot that r snippy health issues w knees n eyes n unless u get bigger parents the fragile dogs bones break easy intact a clients daughter just broke their dogs leg 3weeks ago n ive seen lots of issues w potty training
  • I have to say a resuced dog will always love you more, I resuced a pit lab mix an she is a great dog, only VERY hyper, an I resuced a husky who is the best dog ive ever seen with kids including infants, only we have to get him groomed often an he has to b on a lwash cuz its in there blood to run. Even tho he comes back eventually lol
  • Azmom my pom took 2 days to house train. She listens well but I have also trained her that way. I know a couple friends of mines have had their Poms break bones but mine jumps on and off everything with ease! Lol she's a dare devil! But I also take her to the vet regularly to make sure she's up to date on everything. I have no health issues with her and my vet adores her. The king charles spaniel you mentioned earlier are awesome dogs just very pricey from what I've encountered lol they run about 2 grand around where I live. But none the less awesome dog! Beautiful color!
  • @azmom thank you very much! You've been very helpful! I definitely have some thinking to do. I check our pound weekly and they have only large dogs. And I really want a small one. Thanks sooo much! :) and thanks to all you preglys for your answers!

You can take a quiz online and it will tell you what breed is best for you. That's how I decided to get a Yorkie and I love him!
