FUSSY baby!!! LACK of sleep!! PLZ HELP!

edited July 2011 in First time moms
My son is a few days away from being 6 weeks, and he seems to be really fussy. He don't sleep for long, is always eating, and seems to only wanna sleep if I'm holdin him. Is it cuz he is going threw a growth spurt or what, I no he ain't colicy or gassy, bloated cuz he shits a nd farts like no other. I'm extreamly tired and need some advice. I've tried everything to get him to sleep longer then 20 mins at a time.

  • Try gas drops, my niece went threw that. If not a car ride would chill her out. If all else fails call your daycare or a babysitter so you can get a nap! And don't you dare feel guilty about it.
  • (( hugs))
Prolly just wants your closeness. I call my Jaden a faker bc he cries to be held then instantly stops. It's becoming a habit he's napping on my chest. Is he breast feeding? That may be why too.
  • Well believe it or not it may be the milk. Even if he uses the rr. His little tummy is hurting maybe. Are you bf? I know you are tired but skin to skin contact soothes him.

    Try
    Warming his bottle
    Feeding him frequent
    Change his diaper now often
    Burp him after feedings
  • check fingers n toes make sure no hairs wrapped around, give some baby panadol/tylenol I think rest of the world calls it. make sure bub is wrapped tight n rock them. take bub outside for fresh air. my baby enjoys hoping in a warm bath with me for a cuddle. all the best, I promise he will stop screamin6 at some point all the best xx
  • @bummy87
Good idea! I left one of those plastic points from a tag in his bootie. He screamed bloody murder as soon as I put it on.
  • I use nighttime lotion on my daughter about 45 minutes before bedtime. I then.feed/burp her and swaddle her and put her to bed. She's sleeping at least 7 hours a night. And has been since four weeks old. She's now 7 weeks. Good luck!
  • Swaddle, and I had to turn on a vacuum cleaner so he could go to sleep. It worked though. My baby was colicky though.
  • Thanks ladies for ur advice, but I have done litteraly everything. And I have this wrap I put him in, and he really likes it cuz he is where my heart is and it mimicks the womb, but I can't sleep wth him inside, so I get no sleep. I don't have a baby sitter nor do I live where any of my family is, the only help I get is from my husband and he works 12 hr day. I'm litteraly on fumes.
  • Do you have a swing? Sometimes the motion helps them..that used to be the only way I could get some solid sleep.
I'm not saying this is the magic trick BUT its never to early to start a routine of some sorts. Sometimes its as easy/simple as giving a bath, lotion, bottle, and crib every night around the same time.
