Well Elora was born Thursday. My milk came in last night while I was sleeping my boobs are HUGE. There was so much milk this morning it looked like I had a giant marshmellow for a nipple. They were so hard she couldn't latch on. My wonderful husband got me a hot compress and I was able to get the flow going and she was able to nurse and about 20 min later nursed off the other side. I still had enough milk to pump an oz from each side I would have been able to get more but I was too sore.

yea i know how you feel. is this your first? when my milk came in from my first i cried. i couldnt even allow my husband to touch me (not even enough for a hug). try to pump BEFORE she latches on. it allows for the swelling to go down and she will latch easier. and also your milk will already have let down for her to take milk good luck. let me know if u need more info

OK stupid question but how do u know when your milk comes in? My son is now 9 days old and I'm just not sure if mine has or not. I've had none of the symptoms I was told Were possible. (Soreness, fever etc.)

@survivormommie. She's my 3rd. I had to pump before every feeding with my first because I had so much milk the let down was way to much for him. My 2nd I didn't have any problems she was nursing while they were stiching me up. With this little girl it was a little over an hour before I could nurse she was having a hard time breathing. But she latched strait on.

@adensmommy0803 you know your milk comes in when your breasts become unusually engorged. they are hard and you seem to be extra large. it usually happens in the first 3-5 days after birth. your milk seems to flow so much more and faster. it is common to have pain and soreness, your breasts may seem like bricks. everyone experiences it at different levels.

@survivormommie3 - is it possible for it to come in later then that? I've been a bit sore today but I think its just from pumping since its only around the nipple area.

@HomeBirthAdvocate - that makes me feel better. I have flat nipples and wasn't producing much when we came home and he had jaundice really bad so they had me start mix What I was getting with formula to help flush his system. I've been really worried about it ever since. He won't latch on to me at all anymore. So I'm just pumping and I rarely get more then an ounce.

Mine took a week to come in. I was worried, so I had a beer then pumped, next morning I pumped 3 oz per boob!!!
