Braxton Hicks or the real thing?

edited August 2011 in Third Trimester
I have been having these weird pains and it kind of feels like mabye the baby's kicking my bladder, which is kind of not possible because she is already head down (I'm 34 weeks today). I get a pain that kind of goes down the sides of my vaj (tmi) kind of like electricity. This gets worse if I'm walking, and even though this is my second pregnancy I don't have anything to compare this to because I never had those before and I was induced at 37 weeks because of fluid leaking. So ladies please if you could try to describe for me how braxton hicks feel compared to real contractions. Thank you sooo much :)

  • I would describe them as like short Sharp period cramps but I think its probably different from women to women. I was terrified I wouldn't realise I was in labour, that is think they were bad braxton hicks and EVERYONE said that wouldn't happen but funnily enough that's exactly what happened.
  • it kind of sounds like you had what i had a few weeks back- about the same week you are and i was advised it was probably just my cervix stretching. i described it just the same way.
  • thanks ladies, hopefully she stays in a bit longer, and @survivormommie3 hopefully I'll be stretched out enough that when the time comes I'll have a quick delivery :)
  • I had that! Still do at times dr said its baby burrowing her head down there and into position.. I've been having them for a few weeks and I'm now 37 so I'm hoping she comes soon!
  • good luck, I hope mine comes earlier than 40 but not this early, 37-38 weeks would be ideal
