doctors REALLY piss me off!

so as some of u know i had a miscarriage tuesday (they think it was a chemical pregnancy). anyways i had to get blood work done yesterday well while i was at the doctors office wednesday i asked if they could tell me why i miscarried in april. they tell me my progesterone level was too low to be able to allow the fetus to grow properly? you would think them knowing that would have given me something or atleast seen me as soon as i called about this latest pregnancy instead of saying that they wernt worried. well thanks for not being worried assholes! sorry just a lil frustrated. im just wondering if there is anything i can take to up my progesterone levels for future pregnancies. i just dont want to loose another baby due to the stupidity of someone who went to school for god knows how many years. any advice would be great! thank you ladies :)

  • I'm sorry hun!! I'm not knowledgable on mc's..bump
  • Next time, mention your history as soon as you call to set up the appt. I believe they have a gel or a pill that can up your levels, but I don't know if you can take it before you know.
  • ido not know of anything. however, i would be switching doctors. i have heard of women having the same problem, losing pregnancies then putting them on hormones to help to keep a future baby.
  • I never produce enough progestrone during pregnancy so they put me on progestrone pills two times a day for the first twelve weeks with all three of my bab
  • They have progesterone pills you can take if you level is low. What I would do is call as soon as you get your bfp and tell them that you have mc twice and that you want a blood test. If this was a chemical pregnancy though nothing would have helped that unfortunately.
  • That's exactly right @headersue I call as soon as I know I am pregnant I run and do blood work and they have to call it into a compound pharmacy and insurance doesn't cover it this pregnancy it cost me around 70 dollars last time it was 90 something it just depends
  • @agoodloe @headersue do you think they would even do anything though? the whole 3 m/c rule makes me aggrivated. it makes me feel like i HAVE to have 3 m/c in order for any doctor to do anything. next time i get pregnant i just dont want to end up calling the doctors office and having them tell me that its not a concern unless ive had 3 m/c. but thank you for the info. ill definitely keep that in mind for next time and if they say they are not concerned i will bring me and my tadpole somewhere else! :p
  • I'm the same as the previous mommies. As soon as I get a positive test I'm on the phone to get my progesterone pills. Then my doc has me get a sono once a week forthright frist few to make sure the babe is growing correctly with bloodtests in the mix for hormone tracking. I didn't realize there was a 3strike rule for m/c but I suppose I didnt get a viable pregnancy till after my 5th so it didn't matter
  • It is so frustrating the 3 rule need to change asap!!! I'm sorry mama.
  • @beaded_bunny when i got my bfp for this last pregnancy i called right away and they scheduled me for my first appointment for 2 weeks later so i said should i go get my blood work done soone since i had a m/c 4 months ago and she goes "no the doctor isnt concerned". so the doctor knowing already that my progesterone levels were low last pregnancy wasnt concerned about this past one? i dont find that right. this pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy so the progesterone wouldnt have helped anyways but its just knowing that my doctor knew that and neglected to even tell me or want to see me sooner to have my labs done. the doctors office i went to has the whole 3 or more to be concerned rule but i dont know if every doctor is like that. im definitely not going back to him again. if i happen to get pregnanct again im going to inform my NEW doctor about my history of miscarriages and hopefully that doctor will show some concern in their patients.
  • @II10 it definitely needs to change. I'm just going to go to a different doctor next time. i just dont want to suffer through another miscarriage due to low progesterone if its something that can be managed. i feel like its the doctors fault.
  • I agree find a doctor who wants to help you. I figure obs are a different breed of doctor its the only proffession where 80% of the time they could spin in their chair at your appointments and everything would be fine. Then the other 15% will have issues before they get to an appointment at 8 or 10 weeks. They just don't have the capacity to help the other% that has issues. Finacially its smart I guess. Three obs refused to see me. Why would they see me once every two weeks plus er and emergencies when they can get paid for three easy patients more likley to have a birth payout.
  • @Marie324xo I ve never had a mc that's just my doctors normal procedure so I would check around and talk to other doctors and see what info they offer you
  • I would not ask for the blood test I would demand it. If they will not do it ask your family doctor.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • @headersue believe me i will be demanding it. i think ive been put through enough. im positive that if my ob wont do the blood test then my primary will.

@gatorbob im not sure if my insurance covers it. im going to have to look into that and then hopefully i can get some answers and help. thank you
  • Switch doctors and ask about a prescription for progesterone.
  • @loveourlittleone im going to. i might go see a fertility doctor just to make sure that everything is ok and that its nothing more than just low progesterone
  • Good luck :) I hope a new doctor can help you figure out what's wrong.
  • @loveourlittleone thank you. i really hope i find a doctor capable of doing their job properly
  • I had to take progesterone for the first trimester. I see a reproductive endocrinologist and has to do an iui to get pregnant. So my doctor wasn't taking any chances! I spent WAY to much money to get pregnant for them to be idiots! I would maybe see an RE and if they help you get prego they don't mess around!
  • @headersue the problem isnt getting pregnant. i can do that just fine. its actually being able to keep the pregnancy. i end up having miscarriages. im going to talk to a fertility doctor and see what they say about everything.
  • An RE is a fertility doctor. They find out what is wrong and work to fix it. I hope you get your sticky baby soon!
  • @headersue thank you. i think im just gonna try and enjoy everything right now. might not try again til after the new year since we are going to disney on a cruise in december and would like to go on rides with my husband and step daughter but i leave it all in gods hands now. if he wants it to happen before then, then it will. im not going to do anything to stop it. but thank you for your advice :)
