Jemma is here!!!! My story

Alrighty - so Josh and I got to the hospital to be induced yesterday morning (8-11-10) at 7:15 a.m. and was signed in and completely hooked up by 8:00 EST I was sooooo nervous because I am a ftm and heard horror stories about the pitocin.
I felt fine for awhile and they kept upping my dosage. Well, I had HORRIBLE back labor all day long. I didn't ask for any pain killers because I wanted to wait as long as possible sense I was to have her that night. After hours of back labor, I got a huge contraction with stomach labor too. All day, she had been 1.5 cm and still 80% effaced. When they'd check me, I was still so high up and when they touched her head it just floated up and she wasn't fitting into the canal. I finally asked for the pain meds in my IV and they decided sense it was 5pm already with no progress, they'd let me eat, shower and take me off the IVs until morning.

At 6a.m they came back and started pitocin again. Contractions came quick and were very painful... still no progress. At 10am EST they broke my water (ouch was only 3cm) and in 1.5 hours, I was a 4 and got my epidural (YESSSSSS) went numb, laid on my side and took a small nap. When I woke up, I was an 8. They upped my pitocin and I waited an hour or two and when she checked me, I was 10 cm and 100% effaced! I was so hyped and not nervous at all. I tried to do a practice push to see if there was a point to try then or wait a little bit. It worked so I automatically started pushing. My mom, Josh's mom, my sister and Josh were all able to assist in the birth. Josh was my counting coach, my sister and his mom were holding onto my legs while I pushed and my mom held my head. I pushed for 45 minutes with only 2 contractions skipped and that's because my blood pressure kept getting set off. I had always watched youtube births and decided I did NOT want to be the type to scream, cuss, and cry while pushing. OH and all the videos I watched, the girl had a bm during delivery. Well, I didn't scream, cry or cuss anyone out. Thank God!!! I also did NOT have a bm and I'm so thankful! <3 I cried when I heard her cry. It's so great that I ended up having a vaginal birth anyway! :-D
