NOT breast feeding

edited August 2011 in First time moms
Hello all... I'm a first time mom (to be 9/23) and I am choosing not to breast feed. I know the health and economic benefits of breast feeding and I respect every woman's personal choice to breast or formula feed, and I ask that you all respect mine. I do not want any responses to this post trying to change my mind, please.

My question for all you preglies and existing mommies out there is this:

Since I am choosing not to breast feed, what do I need to do to encourage my milk to dry up after baby is born?? I've heard wearing tight sports bras helps.... Is this true?? Anyone have any other tips or tricks that helped them??

Thanks!!

  • You can pump and squeeze the milk out
  • good luck lol.. hehehehe.. it wont take long to dry up.. mabey a few days .. i can suggest wearing a tight bra, a few breast pads incase you leak.. and warm shower or heating pad on low.. for pain.. you cant avoid it.. so good luck
  • @fashion_junky91 .... Doesn't pumping cause your breasts to keep producing, though??

@lae3... Where do I get breast pads from?? Any store? Thanks for the advice!!
  • Put cabbage leaves in your bra. Heard it dries your milk up fast.
  • oh yeah any were.. you should only need them for a few days.. if that .. but any store .. usually its in the isle as the formula or the one next to it.. im think walmart or target would be your best bet.. also any drug store is sure to have them

  • No warm showers! I had a bra, a sports bra and a cami that had a bra shelf in it.
  • @jcmommy.. no warm showers!??!! Why?
  • After my first baby i had to wrap cold soaked towels real tight around them. Omg they were huge and hurrttt lol but after the towels like that all day the next day it was gone!
  • Well warm is ok, just don't let the hot water on your chest, it helps with the milk flow which you don't want.
  • @Lindsey2bou... Good idea!! Thanks. Hope it works as quickly for me as it did for you!
