tubes tied during C-section? I just can't decide!

edited August 2011 in Pregnant
So I know we are done (she is going to be our fourth-the number we've always wanted). So I know we need to use Birth control. But I am conflicted on getting my tubes tied, its just so final, and I've read of lots of side effects. But since I am getting a c_section my dr is talking me into getting it done since she's "already going to be in there." I just don't know if that's what I want. I already signed the paperwork and its all set. So now I'm nervous about asking her not to do it. Maybe I should just get it done. I'm so confused!?! Any advice Ladies? Anyone else having it done? If so are you nervous about it? Thanx!

  • im getting it done and if you are second guessing yourself you shouldnt get it done. I cant wait to get it done lol But maybe you should try like nuva ring or and iud or something cause tubals are permanent!
  • That should be a decision you make with your hubby too. If you are second guessing it may not be the right time. My hubby wont let me get it done, he rather be the one to have surgery because it has less risks and less life altering impact.
  • I agree if ur second guessing it don't do it
    :)
  • I'm having it done after my c-section...this is #4 for us too. But I totally agree with everyone else, if you are not 100% sure and comfortable with It, then don't get it done. Your Dr shouldn't be trying to "talk" you into it, but maybe just giving you the facts about your options. Good luck in your decision: )
  • I have one baby boy and a b/g twins on the way, ive always wanted 4 but with this pregnancy beeing so hard I think im done, my husband wants me to get my tubes tied but like you said its so final so I was confused 2 till I thought if im not sure about it maybe I shouldnt do it, so I will get an iud...dont get it done unless you're 100% sure :)
  • If I have a c-section, the plan was to get my tubes tied then and there. I'm 35, and this pregnancy has been a beast. If I have a vaginal, I'm concerned about having surgery. I think if you're unsure, do something else. You can use other methods until you're ready to have a permanent solution.
  • This is my second. I am getting my tubes tied during my c section, iv been having mixed feelings but was told I couldn't have anymore after my first an this one has not been a picnic. So I think its for the best in my case. However if you are second guessing than u should reconsider
