HOLY COW!!!!!

edited August 2011 in Labor
I am 36 and 5 with my first baby. I have Type II diabetes and hypertension that I had before pregnancy, my B/P and sugars have been really good through out my whole pregnancy, until about 2 weeks ago. My B/P went up and my sugars have been in the 200's, which is really, really bad, even when not pregnant. Anyhow. I go to the doctor twice a week for NST's to check on my little man, and he is doing wonderfully! Well today I get a call from my doctor and they said they think I have superimposed pre-e which is basically pre-e in someone who already has renal problems or hypertension, so I am being induced on WEDNESDAY!!!

I am so excited to me my son, but I am freaking out! I was not prepared for this yet! To prove it I have not even had my baby shower yet, it is supposed to be on Sunday, but now it is going to be a meet the baby party, I guess!

We have not really told a lot of people that I am being induced, because I still want people to come to my shower and bring gifts(I know it sounds selfish, but they would not have come to the hospital, so this gives them a chance to see the baby).

I just feel so unprepared! Now me and the hubby are running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get all his stuff together, I don't even have a bag packed, I have not been to any classes, I want to breastfeed, but I have no idea what I am doing! I am freaking a bit!

  • eek! Congrats though!! The hospital should have a lactation consultant visit you after your birth to help you figure out breastfeeding, so try not to stress too much!
