Ugh. Maternity clothes :(

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
I've been looking at maternity clothes to see what's available cuz I'll need some soon. I already need a bra or two for my expanding boobies (awesome!) and some bottoms or a dress would be nice. So far, most of the stuff I've seen online looks like its meant for thirtysomethings, not 19 year olds. To complicate things, I dressed super punky before I got pregnant. I've just decided to try to find clothes that will go with my old stuff. But clothes that look like they're meant more for a lady older than me don't really go with what I've got. Any ideas ladies?

  • Try old navy or burlington coat factory. I found me some ripped up capris and a shirt that says my belly rocks at BCF. I love it bc I was into band tees, jeans and chuck Taylor so when I got preggo I was like man ill never find clothes I like. Lol

Same! That was casual for me, actually. When I really dressed up, I looked like an extra from Sid and Nancy or SLC Punk. I really dig the 70s style punk look :)
  • I honestly haven't had much luck in maternity sections... hard to find my style too. So I just look in my regular sections or go to the stores I normally shop and look for stuff that will work for a prego girl, surprisingly a lot does! The longer shirts and tank tops, a lot of summer dresses, its the pants that are gonna be hard to find... im really picky about my jeans as it is! Good thing all my jeans are low rise so I should ne able to wear them for awhile :)
  • Hey u can get a belly band they have them at target that way u can wear you pants u have now. And yea just search hot topic or even the smaller sizes at torrid.com for when u get bigger.
  • I found some cute jeans at macys and surprisingly target...for the shirts I just got a bigger size...
  • Just found a wesite but they are pretty pricey but its its stellamaternity.com/punk I like the tops.
  • I just buy regular shirts in larger sizes. So many styles are the longer tunic shirts which is good to cover the belly plus the fact that my jeans aren't buttoned up Haha. Belly bands are the best.
  • I just buy what I would normally but in bigger sizes...that should work at least till your 3rd trimester
  • A belly band will convert your regular pants so you can wear them. I know exActly what you mean about the clothes, I was 19 when I was prego with my son. Nothing for younger mommies to be found in north dakota
  • Thanks for the tips :) unfortunately, belly bands wont work too well for me cuz the weight I've gained so far has gone to my butt and thighs more than my tummy. No more skinny jeans for me! I like the stretchy dress and leggings look, so I'll definitely be rocking that look when I get bigger. @babymaxisontheway I'm gonna check out that website right now!
  • Ohh and I think it was motherhood.com had some jeans that looked more like skinny jeans wont be like the ones ur used to waering but might be something. U like. I gotta find me a black dress somewhere bc I want to take maternity pics.
  • Try forever21 online they have a maternity line not a lot of stuff but its cute! Waaaay better than the regular maternity stuff that's super huge lol. I hate shopping for maternity clothes, nothing catches my eye
  • Motherhood maternity also has some cool lookin skinny jeans with tears, faded, and studs or stones on them when I went they didn't have my size :(
  • @lily_glz think they'd have size 13? That's what I was before I got pregnant. I checked out forever 21s maternity stuff online. Its a little preppy for my taste, but the stuff there is most definitely an improvement :)
  • Kohls has some pretty cute and comfy clothes
  • i had to shop a lot to find clothes...ROSS has a lot off stuff...i found some very comfy cute shorts the brand is ATTITUDE UNKOWN..maybe they have a website or something....
  • Old navy & Target both have pretty cute clothes. I'm 20 so I'm not looking for any old lady clothes either.lol
  • Target and motherhood
  • I was surprised that jc penny and sears had no maternity clothes.
  • @victoriab yes ma'am I think I remember seeing 13 go check them out!
  • @lily_gilz thanks a bunch!
@mamapalmer that's weird... I guess they don't have room for a maternity section? Or maybe they just want you to go to the maternity stores in the mall :/
