So we saw my OB doctor this afternoon to see what happened, why our angel Addison come so early. Turns out I had developed an infection called Chorioamnionitis. Had we not removed the cerclage we could have lost Addison and mommy. He said we could try again in 3 months but wants us to see a specialist in Atlanta before hand. He said basically to see if they have any suggestions to make my cervix stronger. I guess it was nothing we could prevent. Mommy loves you Addison......Always!

  • :( thanks for the update. Hope you are doing well.
  • I guess I am doing the best I can. I was really worried that it was going to be a missed diagnosis and it was not an infection but it was. Apparently daddy would have lost both of us and I know that would have been very bad for him.
  • @babynewyear2012 I am glad you were able to get answers I hope this helps in the healing process! Stay strong honey!
  • I'm sorry for your loss but so thankful that you're here and healthy. Your little guy needs you so much and I'm sure Addison was looking out for her daddy and big brother. I'm praying they find you a way to carry your next baby to term. <3

  • @kristaf22 Amber has helped me alot! There have been many times this week I felt very weak and she has talked to me alot. I know how bad I hury and there is always somebody that feels the same if not worse. I have had alot of support here the last week. I pray we do get to try again. Mark deserves a baby he can really be a father to.
  • So sorry for ur loss :( this breaks my heart
  • So I was just doing research on the infection that I had that caused all of this. One thing that can cause it is bacterial vaginosis and multiple pelvic exams. Get this I told my doctor 2 weeks in a row that I had a heavy discharge, he said it was normal with a cerclage. I also had weekly vaginal ultrasounds. Wonder if this could have been treated earlier. Guess I will never know.....urghh!
  • I have followed all your posts and am glad to see that you at the very least have an explanation. Looking too hard into things though may only further your hurt and frustration about what you have gone through. I hope that in time you find peace. Sending you and your loved ones happy and healing thoughts xox
  • @tinka1326 I am sure the internet will frustrate me so there you are right. It just worries me because I had the same infection when my son was born at 27 weeks. He is fine now but was sick for a long time. There has to be some way to prevent it.
  • Im glad u got the answers you needed! I hope u are able to try again soon and have a happy outcome! And I am truly sorry for your loss! *hugs*
  • I'm sorry for your loss! That's terrible, but glad to hear you'll be able to try again soon

  • I am so glad you have a reason. That makes it easier to handle. God bless & my prayers are still with you.
  • @everyone Thanks for the continued prayers. Today has been a week and it seems like yesterday.
  • Thats so scary, I have a ton of discharge with my cerclage and doc says its perfectly normal. I will ask him about possibility of infection at my appt on friday. Much love to you.
  • @new_bsby_in_oct You were one of the first mommas I talked to about my cerclage. There was one more, a lady with blonde hair but I havent seen her in a while. Do you know who I am talking about? I worry about her.
  • I think you are talking about @kls11811. I haven't heard from her in a while either. I know she was dealing with placenta previa last time she commented. Hope she is doing ok!
  • @new_baby_in_oct That is her. I hope she is ok! Hope everything is ok with you at the doctor on friday. Do you also have weekly cervical ultrasounds?
  • Surprisingly, they stopped doing scans/manual checks after my stitch was placed at 17wks. I think I have been checked twice since then due to preterm labor scares and cervix was holding strong. Docs said its better to leave it alone if there are no symptoms of preterm labor to try and avoid infection. I think they will do a check on friday to see if i'm softening at all, but no cervical length scan as they say that doesnt matter anymore at 34wks. I have an appt scheduled for removal on sept 15. I feel horrible for what you have gone through. I know that I have been on the edge through my entire pregnancy knowing something could go wrong at any second. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you can find the peace and the strength to try again.
  • @new_baby_in_oct I wonder why they did mine every week. I think it was to much, to many cervical exams. That is probably what caused the infection. OMG why did he do it so much!
  • I'm so sorry. I hope you get the answers and closure you are searching for.
  • Definitely look into why they were checking u so often...that sounds odd!!! I am sorry for ur loss, and praying for u n ur family.
  • I really hope you do get some more answers about possible preventative measures. Its awful enough to have suffered what you already have but to go through another pregnancy later on with the same fears would be unbearable.
