  • I don't know how mom's do it, but I've done the whole working and going to school full time without a kid, and it was no fun. If you have to work, I would only go to school part time, or at least take some of your classes online.

@lucyloo288 @FirstTimeMommyToBe I'm going to try & take maybe 2 onlince classes & 2 @ campus bt ill have to make some kind of money to help with baby stuff. I'm going to school to be an ultrasound tech, a 2 yr program at my college :)
  • I'm working 40 hours a week, but I'm still pregnant. I'm due Oct 12th and going back in Jan. IDK what I'm going to do either, but I have no choice but to go back to work.
  • I work 40 hrs a week, did homework at night and barely ever see my 8 yr old. With the new baby im gonna drop to part time work
  • @jess510 I have to work too :( my bd works bt he can't wait till I go back to work cuz he is providing all support money wise at the moment. So at least part time bt I wanna hurry up with school to start a career, dnt wanna wrk a dead end job forever!
  • I don't know either.. I'm taking 2 online classes now and I go back to work part-time next week. I'm going to bump this since I want to go back on campus full time in spring. But I think I'm going to have to quit my job. I can't go during the day, since there's no one I trust that can watch her. And I only work evenings so its not going to work. Sucks soo much since BD just lost his job. :(
  • @mommy2b06 I'm sorry to heard bout bd :( but I know what u mean! I like campus classes cuz I can focus more than online. I have plenty of people who will babysit bt I do not like bd family & I just know I'm going to b super protective with my lil girl!
  • @M0MMY2BE yes I definetly like on campus better. I was originally taking three but I dropped my English class because I read the syllabus and I know I will do way better in an actually classroom. And its hard with a baby I admit I get distracted and much rather play with her lol. And I understand how you feel about the in laws. Same here. My mom in law can have her tuesdays and wednesdays on her days off but she's the type of lady that's always out and about for no reason and I don't like that. And his aunts are kinda messy and dirty. Not trying to be mean. and no way I'm doing day care until she can talk. Plus no money anyway. But we gotta go to school.
  • I work 40 hours a week. I took fall semester off of school to prepare and be with my baby due October 7th. I don't know what I'll do when I go back to school. Definitely can't quit work, bf doesn't make enough to pay rent and both of our bills.
  • I take twelve hours, six on campus, six online. I also work on campus six hours. My husband takes six hours on campus and works 5 days a week. It's micromanaging really. I have t/r classes, he has m/w classes. I work when he's off, he works when I am.
It's tough, I'm exclusively breastfeeding so I make sure I have a break to nurse my lo.
  • @mommy2b06 I don't even talk to bd family & haven't for over a year, I had a miscarriage & they told everyone we know I had an abortion! Bt they are so excited I'm having a baby bt I want nothing to do with them & def. Don't want my baby around them. I feel the same way about daycare too. We live with my parents so I'm sure my mom will be watching her bt I don't want her to get tired of it cuz she already has other grandkids to watch sometimes. I just hope everything works out for us both :)
  • @marysue I'm going to only breastfeed as well. I'm going to try to wrk or go to school when bd if off to keep from my mom watch baby too much, but does it stran your relationship? Me & my bd are really close bt this pregnancy has been hard for both of us cuz I've been so b*tchy & emotional lol
  • It hasn't strained it at all. But our relationship is a bit different than most.
  • @loveourlittleone I totally understand :( I was too sick to go to school summer semester & didn't go this fall because I'm due sept 23 & would miss some class time. Bt I def have to work
  • I'm not sure how others do it but I had a full time Job and online classes and that was extremely hard for me. Hubby told me to quit work so that I can spend more time with our boys and I'm loving it!

you just do it. that's it. i dont know how many of ftm's here are single or have their bd with them but for the sake if this post ill go ahead and admit I'm doing everything by myself. no help from adriens dad, his family, my family, friends, no one. i bet its a lot easier with a SO but then u have the added stress of a relationship to maintain and Idk if id even want o take that on right now- BUT anyway I'm rambling off subject...

my son is a week-ish shy of 4 months. when you bring your baby home for the first time, after u take him out the carseat lay him down look at him maybe change baby outfits a couple times, your going to realize for the first real time "IM responsible for this breathing human being. I have to feed it and clean it and ((!RAISE??!)) it. this is MY ba
  • my phone just cut m off hold on there more lol

im 20 years old and born excatly 2 fridays after i turned 20 is my son who is a week-ish shy of 4 months. when you bring your baby home for the first time, after u take him out the carseat lay him down look at him maybe change baby outfits a couple times, your going to realize for the first real time "IM responsible for this breathing human being. I have to feed it and clean it and ((!RAISE??!)) it. this is MY baby. ok.

and u just do whatever u have to do to make sure that baby has everything he needs. for some its going to school to make sure u have a good future for your child, some work more hours in a week then they sleep. some moms get into negetive or illegal things. but whatever u do its all for that sweet baby.

id fall under the category of work>sleep.
5 weeks after my sons emergency c section birth i returned to work. and i was also working 40-50 hours a week up until april 30 and my son was born may 6.
i work 7 days a week, anywherr from 8-12,13, sometimes 14 hours a day. and thank heaven that in my line of work i am able to bypass labor laws and actually work that much because raising a baby is sooo expensive. add on that i dont live with anybody;not family for free and don't have a roommate or anything to split rent/power with.
my days consist of pretty much the same routine.
get up when its still dark.
get ready for work, take my dog for a 10-15 minute walk while adrien still asleep. when i get back inside i get adrien up, change diaper change clothes buckle in carseat put dog in crate get premade bottles in diaper bag grab work bag and carry all that shit plus carseat down 2 flights of stairs. sun is just coming up at that time.
drop off at sitter, go to work.
I'm a home healthcare nurse i work with seniors and provide home nursing so they have a chance to live in their own homes rather than nursing homes. most days i see multiple clients in one day so i do ALOT of driving all day. this is how my shifts easily turn into 12 or more hours. after i finish work i pick adrien up. if i can squeeze a few minutes to do errands that are much quicker to do without him i try to before i get him.
we get home and i lug all that crap from the morning back up two flights except add now that its hotter than hell and I've probably aquired a couple more bruises, bumps and pulled muscles so it really hurts. set everything inside put adrien in his crib and i take my poor pup :P on a little walk again. empty dirty bottles and do all the dishes (never from me i hardly eat its always baby stuff).
about 3 times a week i do all out cleaning (even tho my place is usually pretty tidy).
bath adrien, get diaper bag and clothes for the next day set out. make about 6 bottles for the next day.
shower again[Idk why i have to shower every morning and nught I'm just weird i guess]
    FINALLY GO TO BED.
wake up in morning and repeat.

on average i probably get 4-6 hrs of sleep a night. not deep tho; there's at least one feeding during the night, and mommy-checks are at an all time high. sometimes i jolt awake in the dark and run to adriens room, pick him up hella fast and put his chest or face to my ear. then i actually 'wake up', realize my heart is beating a million times a minute and go back to bed.i don't know why i do it or what wakes me up like that, but it just makes my little bit of sleep that more shallow.

sorry thus is soooo long! i read all the other responses and realized a lot of girlies wanted to know and nobody had shared a story. it really helped me just now to actually lay my new life out and look at it a new way. put it into another perspective for me. because after a cool minute the days and nights start to blend together. and i want people to read one persons real experience and get somewhat of an idea how things are after delivery.

just remember YOU CAN DO IT. its not impossible millions of moms; single, married, first timers, 5th timers and everyone in between, young, old, rich, poor, and from every country; do it everyday.
    goodluck!
  • @adrians_mommy YOU ARE ONE STRONG MOMMY!! I know a lot of people that don't even work bt have a baby sitter everyday so they can just be carefree bt u are doing what you have to do! U inspire me! Thank you for your story! I'm sure your right. & ill be able to handle it! I do have help & even if I didn't I gotta do what I gotta do for my baby too! Good luck! I hope the best for you & your son!! :)
