how long after c cection?

When your still in the hospital, how long is it after your c cection do they let you shower. This is my first baby and I just found out that on the 16th I have to have one ..im so nervous. Any advice from moms who have had one is greatly appreciated

Probably the next day because for most(if not all) of the first day you have a catheter and iv

2 of mine was the next morning and with my 3rd it was the evening after my c-section. :-)

I had my section at night and showered the next day after they took the catheter out and the leg compressor thingies off.
Don't be afraid to ask.for pain medicine! I went the better part of the day without it because I was unaware I had to ask for it. Made an interesting case for walking around. Remember, it is a major surgery. Treat it that way! I was in the hospital recovering from Monday night until Wednesday afternoon.
don't freak out at the blood whenever you go to pee. My husband helped me to the bathroom and was absolutely shocked at it.
if you are breastfeeding, don't let it discourage you. Tell them you plan on doing so. I had my son at 6:09 and didn't get to see him until 8:15 and he latched on like a champ. (Though we encountered our snags later on).
Uh, that is pretty much all I can think off.

Oh! Don't be alarmed if you are itchy afterwards. They have some mess that'll stop it.

Just had csec on Tuesday morning, I was allowed yesterday after they took out catheter and IV...

I had my csection last Tuesday at 6pm. Once the catheter and iv was out which was at 6:30 am and the nurse checked my incision I was told I could get up and shower. Be prepared to have your pads changed by the nurses. I felt so weird. I had great difficulty breastfeeding! I didn't get settled into my room with my baby until 12:30 am so it took forever to even attempt. She wouldnt latch then by morning she was hypogylcemic so they had to bottle feed her. From there its gone downhill with bfing. I even tried to strictly pump once my milk came in but gosh that was tiring. Anyways

Walk as much as you can. Ask for meds as soon as your meds from surgery wear off. Mine wore off about 20 hrs afterwards. Make sure to get rest while youre in the hospital. Use the nursery!

I didnt get to shower I had pre eclampsia so it was worse.. I had my son on a tuesday night. I had to stay on magnesuim sulfate to make sure I didnt have a seizure and to monitor my urine ouput. I got off the mag on wed night and went to my room. I tried to get up with my fiance and nurse but I was too weak.. Hadnt eaten since mon morning.. they took my cathetar out thursday morning, so I had to get out of bed to pee. I made sure I got up every now and then so I would be able to walk and be out of the hospital on that friday. It sucked. I was in the hospital from sunday at 3 a.m to friday at 12 pm. I never got to walk to the nursery and see my son I got to see him 24 hours after he was born I seen him for a sec to kiss him before he had to go to the nursery.
