    Your suppose to pick it up at your health department. Well thats how it is where I live. I got it 7 days after she was born

    I actually had to go to the birth certificate office to get mine, I got it on the spot

    Its probably different state to state/county to county. My son was born in Lehigh County, Pa and got mine (in the mail) less than a month after he was born.

    I haven't but I know I have to get his ssc first then go buy it but I haven't got is sec yet and he's 5+2

    I know in the state of texas you have to order and pay for it.

    in NJ it takes 2 weeks for it to be ready then you go pick it up at the vital statistics office. It's $20...I called before going to get it so I didn't waste my time (you can mail in a check but then it's another 2-3 weeks to receive it) and it was a simple process they just print it out and do the notary stamp on it and you're done. The ss card came 2 weeks after he was born.
