  • hmm ok thanks i have a horrible bladder lol so when she is doing the ultrasound and pushing down i will have to refrain from peeing my pants lol
  • I'm glad it didn't matter for me and I had a regular ultrasound
  • U can ask to have a pad puts under you my mom peed when they did my ultrasound
  • its going to be hard to have a full bladder my ultrasoud it at 8:15 good thing its like a 30 min drive to my doctors office i will have to chug down the water on the way there
  • Ur actually supposed to start drinking about an hour and a half prior to appointment cuz you gotta drink 64 oz.
  • 64 oz wow i dont even know if i drink that much in a whole day...well guess i will be up at the crack of dawn

  • yeah mine was either 8:30 or 3:15 and i am so excited to go shopping so i took the early one my doctors office has like 5 doctors so its a very very busy place but they failed to mention that i needed a full bladder to me but i had to ask cause i am pretty sure with my 1st i did but she stopped and let me go to the bathroom really quick cause i really had to go lol
  • I wasn't able to drink that much just drink all you can
  • @mama_kat yeah cause i know my bladder wont hold 64 oz lol
  • Call and ask . With my first they said full blade now with number two they said you don't have to do that anymore . ? They can never make up there minds so I would call bc I drank tons of water and had to pee really bad and then they said oh no go pee. Lol
  • bladder not blade
  • yeah i think i will give them a call and see cause there is no way i can hold it that long lol
  • They had me give my urine sample before I had my ultrasound yesterday. But I had heard the full bladder thing too. I could see her just fine she just didn't want to move lol
  • They hooked me up to an IV for 1000 mK and I didn't know why, so on the way to get my ultra sound I asked the tech if I could use the rest room real quick and she told me that she needed my bladder to be full
  • I scheduled mine today and they told me 32 oz..
  • Lol at whoever said 64 oz.... its 32 oz... -___-
  • I'm an ultrasound tech and we do ask you to fill for a reason.some womens uterus' sit differently andthe bladder either gives us a window by pushing gas away or pushes theuterus into a better position. Don't be so full you can't lay down or have some prssure applied. Judge your own bladder capacity.
  • @teresita thank you! They never said anything when I scheduled it so I was not for sure....thanks for answering!
  • I was told 32oz and after downing that and driving all the way there, the machine was broken, I almost peed myself. The next day I went back and told the nurse I drank maybe 26oz because I didn't want to wet myself and she said that since I know my body best, as long as I feel it was enough it was probably fine.

I've always been told 32 oz and I have it done every 2 weeks. I did that with my son for the first us but was so uncomfortable. I decided on my own that my bladder seems to always be full since I always have to pee. I don't drink more than normal and I'm fine. They have never complained. I drink a lot of water normaly though.
  • Call them and ask every place is different the place I went with my son said full bladder but the one I went to with this one just said make sure your hydrated. They actually asked me to empty my bladder and I had only drank 20 oz by that time.

I think it depends a lot on the type of ultrasound which could be why so many different answers, my earlier post was referring to gender ultrasound, I've had others that didn't require any fluids pryor. But if you weren't told, you may want to call and ask...
