Swelling after c-section

i had my son yesterday morning via caesarean. Hours after the delivery i noticed that my thighs, calves, ankle and feet are terribly swollen and I am itching all over. I was told that this is normal after a c-section. Anyone else experience this? how do i make the swelling go down?

I had this too. It took about a week or so for it to go down. Walking, drinking plenty of water, and eating protein will help. The itching....ugh...isn't it awful?! Ask for something to help with it. I only had it for about 24 hours...its from the spinal block Meds.

Just had my section last thursday. During pregnancy I had little to no swelling after section I had terrible swelling lasted about 5 days, I drank lots of water, stay off your feet as much as possible the days I tried to do more my ankles got so big I couldnt rotate my feet. also I soaked my feet in epsom salt. Congrats on your new baby, and trust me take it easy!!!!

@dreamaria @pregnantelf omg its like my legs doubled in size!! i cant even see or feel my kneecaps! lol, I've taken tons of benedryl and it does nothing for me. Is there any bending or lifting that i shouldnt do? i had the hardest time putting on my undies

Mine were the same...so swollen it was awful. Just take it easy...nothing crazy, just being moblie will help move the fluid around. Benadryl didn't work for me either. They gave me nubain.

I called my legs lincoln logs, lol. Soooo annoying. Drinks LOTTTTTS of water, sounds contradicting, but it helps.

Its easy to over do it. Just be careful.

@dreamaria they finally gave me nubian earlier and it was better then benedryl

I had massive swelling also it literally felt like my legs and feet were going to explode... I left the hospital weighing a pound more than when I went in to give birth and my daughter weighed 7.3 that doesn't include the water or placenta.. that's how much water I retained... I also now have stretch marks on the outside of my legs from the swelling ( I did not have them during the whole pregnancy) it is normal.. however I did notice the more I did like walked around or anything for that matter the worse my swelling got...

Thank god after my son i only itched for like an hour and it was just my face. As fir swelling, i had severe pre eclampsia so i was way beyond swollen to begin with that the day after i had my c section i was less swollen. I couldn't wear shoes when i showed up to the hospital but sure enough wore shoes home. I lost 40lbs in a wk after i had my son.

what about the bleeding. i bled heavy after the operation and today its light....is that normal?

I had a c section 9days ago and my whole body but my arms and face were swollen it was horrible. I didn't get the itchy skin part. Am still a little swollen but its a lot better . I think I would of healed a little faster if I wasent up so much doing things even when I took a shower I noticed I got swollen . Rest a lot, only be up for very little drink water and also a message always helps.

Lol I ment it stinks, damn auto correct!!! I didn't have stinky blood!! Well not that I could smell lol

Oh and I bleed for 7 days 5 days of blood 2 of spotting

I also just had a csection this week. I wish I knew an easy way to get it to go away but everyone keeps saying rest & lots of water. & yes, its normal just a huge pain in the ass.

I Was Swollen For 2 Weeks. Dr Said To Drink Lots Of Water, As For The Itching I Had It Just On My Face. Wen My Epidural Wore Off That's Wen The Itching Stopped. Congrats On The Baby (: I Hope You Have A Speedy Recovery

im even more swollen now! my feet and legs look like ballons! i cant wear socks because they either dont fit or they hurt to walk in! what am i suppse to do to rid this swollen mess!??
