Seafood

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
I live in Charleston SC pretty much live on the beach. How am I suppose to lower my seafood intake? I love it and want it all the time. This is my 3rd pregnancy and my other 2 pregnancies I didn't want it all the time like I do now.

  • Seafood isn't bad for you, as long as it's cooked, it's actually pretty low risk. My dr advised against over consumption of larger seafood, such as shark, tuna and swordfish, since they tend to be higher in mercury. I was advised to eat seafood once to twice a week, but I live in the prairies, so it's not like we have a huge supply of seafood always on hand haha.
I wouldn't stress too much about it, again, as long as it's cooked, it shouldn't be a big deal!!

    :x
  • I've ate lobster, mahimahi, scallops, salmon and tons of boiled shrimp lately. So I'm pretty sure I'm okay. But I was reading somewhere and it said don't overdue the seafood.
  • I'm the same! I eat at hyman's downtown almost every weekend.
  • NavyWife You should try the place under the Wappoo bridge, the restaurant with the upside down sign. They have grits as a side and if you like grits there's are AMAZING. But there seafood is really good.
  • gah you ladies are making me want seafood so badly.
oh well. to each their own...guess I'll have some steak tonight. ;-)
