weight gain

I just went in for my second trimester check up and I gained 9lbs in 4 weeks.... I cried. I don't understand how I could have gained that much weiht. I am a personal trainer and teach three aerobics classes a week. I also work out 6 days a week for two hours each day. I eat very healthy and very clean (ie.no milk products sugar products or wheat products) I cried when I looked at the scale... is there anyone out there that can relate?

  • Dude. Read the chapter in The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy about exercising. It's ok. You're pregnant! Youre going to gain weight. It's ok, you can exercise it all back off after you give birth. Besides, a lot of it is probably just water weight.
  • Don't worry about it too much. Its completely natural. I lost 23 pounds just in the hospital. Don't forget you're hauling around extra water and blood, placenta and a baby. Just continue taking care of yourself and you will be fine!
  • Thank you for the advice. I just don't want to gain too much cuz its not healthy for me or the baby.
  • yeah during my 10wk scan i only gained 300gm. Dr was very pleased, he mentioned to avoid cheese & milk. only 1 serving of fish per wk - but i totally stayed away cos i feel very nauseous even at 13 wks now.... Fr Singapore.
  • I don't eat milk or wheat or sugar products... I don't know where the 9 lbs came from....
  • Hi Lealove, the additional weight comes from the blood flow, placenta, amniotic fluid and the baby.... :)>-
