How does birth control work

I know this is something I should already know but I wasn't taught much about birth control and all back in the day. So... My question is

If you're on birth control and a guy comes inside you, are you not able to get pregnant r does he still have to withdraw because there's a possibility that I can become pregnant while on birth control.

    U shouldn't need to withdraw but it CAN happen....just like with any form of contraceptive. None are 100% fool proof

    It messes with hormones and the ability for your body to either ovulate or prevent implantation. But like @nicoleok87 said it's not 100% failproof. The failure rates they give for the different methods are for perfect use and no one is perfect.
