I'm not able to get my tubes tied because ill just be turning 21 right before my baby is due and I told my doc I don't want on the pill cause I wouldn't be able to remember it and I've always heard bad things about mirena so he suggested implanon which goes in your arm ....I was wondering if anyone else has.every used this and how well it does ...its supposed to work for 3 years

  • You are supposed to only get one if you've already had a kid. I've known 3 people with them. They work but have same side effects as birth control. My cousin had trouble getting hers out and has a scar because tissue grew around it.

You can also look in to the t-bar aka IUD (intrauterine device, I think) it can last 5 years with a plastic hormone one or up to 10 years with a copper one. You also have to have had a kid already for that one. And there is also the risk of tissue growing around it. My cousin got that after her kid and she really liked having it, said it was the best birth control she ever had
  • * the reason you are supposed to already have a kid is because there is risk of making you sterile. That's what 2 of the girls that I know that have them said their drs told them. I'm absolutely considering the arm one after this kid
  • I had mirena and i had serious bacterial infections because of it. I had bad cramps, and eventually had to remove it. Im thinking about the implanon this time, my primary dr has been trying to get me on it for 3 years, im gonna listen this time.
  • I already have a lil boy and after I have my lil girl in June I'm done having kids me and my husband decided two is enough ...so in considering getting it ...I don't want mirena cause I've heard to many bad things and most people say the guy can feel it ...I'm not so much worried bout the side effects I just want some form of birth control that I'm not goinf to have to remember to take everyday ....also does it last the whole 3 years or is there a chance it will only work for a lil while then no longer ...
