Breastfeeding and no appetite

edited October 2011 in Breastfeeding
I'm pumping and giving my son my breast milk. Ever since my c section friday I have had no appetite. I'm probably at one small meal if that, a day. Yesterday was the first time I ate more then once. Bowl of oatmeal, 2 slices of subway pizza, 3 pieces of chicken, small amount of mac and cheese and green beans. Idk why it's so hard to force myself to eat. Today I only ate 3 pieces of chicken. I'm just not hungry. Any one else experiencing this?

  • Its totally normal :-) they say it can take a little while for your appetite to return after having a baby. Just eat little and often, you'll need to keep your energy levels up to help you recover.
  • Me!!!! I thought I was the only one lol I try to eat but I really am just never in the mood. They say when breast feeding you need like 3000 calories a day to make up for the ones you burn but there is noo way I can eat that much. :(( Glad to hear it will come back though!
  • I was worried id be eatin non stop, everyone kept telling me that when you breastfeed you cant stop eating! Ive never had a big appetite so that terrified me but then when I had my baby I was like you ladies (shes 1 month tomorrow) but my midwife explained ^^^^ to me and thankfully my appetite is back to normal(ish) now :-)
