Worst.Heartburn.Ever...any tips?

edited October 2011 in Third Trimester
Ladies, what's good for the worst heartburn ever? I have tried OTC remedies like Tums, Pepsid, Prilosec and Zantac. I have asked my doctor for stuff and she gives me a perscription for the equavilant to Zantac. I have tried to not eat spicy, carby or nonbland food...Nothing works! Okay the pills work for the 1st few days but then my body grows acustom to them and I can't take them anymore bc I'm not suppose to take more than 2 a day per the instructions.
Does ANYONE have a good remedey or medication they use that I can talk to my doctor about getting on? I've got 4 weeks and 4 days left and I keep throwing up my food bc of this damned heartburn.

  • This is probably a stupid question but mustard as in the condiment or mustard seed? Lol.
  • Mustard the condiment @RhiRiot...idk what else works..I take zanatc's..but u said that doesn't work so here's a Bump
  • Minty gum worked for me! Hope you find some relief!
  • I've been prescribed omeprazole & it works brilliantly for me (I'm in UK so it may have a diff name) :)
  • Milk helps me too and i know this might sound crazy but my father in law swears of u sip on a glass of pickle juice then have a small glass of milk it will go away...and everytime i have heartburn i try it and it works....gotta love home remedies....good luck
  • When mine is acting up I have a small bowl of icecream, its soothing ti the pain and usually keeps it away for longer than milk for me... And hey any excuse to eat icecream :-)
  • Vinegar. It really really helps! Also if you wanna try a tiny bit of baking soda in some water that helps some people too. Vinegar works great for me when tums and milk, meds don't cut it.
  • Don't drink alot of liquids at meal time. This tip greatly helped to reduce my heartburn to almost none. Good luck!!
  • I agree with all of the vinegar posts: mustard and pickles. I always eat pickles. Last night I ran out and just chugged the juice. Always works.
  • Swallow just a little bit of tooth paste. Make SURE its the paste kind mother gel. The baking soda in it works.
