Your baby to completely drain your boobs? I'm pretty sure I have a clogged duct and I read best way to get rid of it is have baby completely drain you and that he should be doing that every feeding how do I get him to do that?

Put a hot rag on your breast while.feeding him and massage.the knot with the.hot rag. Thay will.help a lot

Also feed from one breast durring a feeding. Some woman do both but I personally find that my son drains my breast when he only feeds on one at a time plus he gets the fatty milk that keeps him fuller longer

Oh thank you so much @littlefae. I normally feed from both. I was told to do like 10-20 minutes on each. How long should he be eating for he is 16 days old

As long as he wants! If he lets go, burp & offerr same boob again. He'll either take it or he's satisfied.

Yup, as @caroline8_p said, I just keep him on until he's done. Baby will let you know.
And I keep the other one full until the next feeding. Since I've been doing this from the start it doesn't get engourged but it is full by the next feeding lol.
Though some woman do pump from the other breast durring or right after feeding to build up a supply in the freezer.

I feed from one side at a time to avoid clogged ducts. If I get a bit engorged I pump. When I did have a blocked duct i.massaged the area regularly especially during feeds and in a few feeds it cleared up

Breastfeed while on all 4s above him. Sounds weird looks awkward but it works.

Does anyone know how babies get thrush and how to prevent it? My sons tongue has been white for a couple days and it won't come off he has a Dr apt tomorrow but I'm also worried that he gave it to me I have a white spot on both nipples and it won't come off. How can I get rid of it?

His tongue is white and it doesn't come off. Its not cottage cheese looking yet but I know its not milk. I think I have it on my boob too. I have a whit spot on both nipples and milk won't come out of those spots on my nipples.

Does it come off? That's how brodys started out just on the roof and now its on his tongue. He had an apt today but I had a flat tire so its tomorrow now. Ill keep you posted. @yayl0vesy0u

Use a wet wash cloth or even your finger gently scrape it. @yayal0vesy0u

All 3 of mine (and me ) had thrush. U get a prescrpt. Cream for ur nips + a diflucan pill. Baby gets a sticky liquid med that has 2 be swabbed into his mouth 2-3 times a day. Both must b treated. I don't know how we all got it. I use a sterilizer for all pump parts, pacis, & nipples.

@tizpear do you have to have the cream for nipples? My Dr just prescribed the pill. Also did it make it hurt to breast feed like a burning type feeling in my nipples and boobs?

Well I scraped & it came off so I dont think it is. But he does have his 2month appt next week so ill ask them to check. What are thrush symptoms for us women?

Its starting to hurt to nurse. For me. I thought he was not latching right again but I looked it up just now and the pain is from thrush. I dread nursing it hurts so much. Also tender nipples kinda shiny looking. And shooting pain when nursing.
