My story: Unplanned planned c-sec. *pics included
On Friday November 4th, my lil Jordan was born via c-sec and was 5 days overdue.
I had a drs appt on Friday, where we learned my fluids were low and i still hadn't progressed. I was only 1.5cm dialated, 50% thinned w.a high cervix. They sent me to labor n delivery w.2 options. I could have a csection or try for vaginal delivery, but the chances of it resulting in csection were increased by 50%.
I was all about vag delivery until we found out about low fluid n associated risks w.a vag delivery. They said that i would probably need 2 doses of cytotec to thin my cervix. Each dose takes 4-5 hours to work. After that, I would need pitocin to get contractions goin. They said since I was only 1.5cm, that it could take up to 10more hours to fully dialate. On top of all those hours of labor, they said that either drug could cause unusually intense contractions that could potentially squish the cord since my fluid was low. Taking all that into consideration, I elected for a csection.
The spinal only pinched n i felt nothing. He was born perfectly healthy at 651pm weighing 8lbs 4oz. 21“ long. I'm so glad we decided to go for the csection. It was so calm, safe for baby, stress free n went perfect. My family had time to get there n we didn't have to worry about the crazy construction that was on the way to the hospital.
I'm completely overwhelmed with love for him. It almost hurts.
