Going back on the pill postpartum

I am 9 weeks pp today. I started spotting last Saturday/Sunday and just got my prescription filled for the pill today. Should I start taking them this Sunday or wait until I have another period?
I'm on generic Loestrin 1/20.
Also, bf'ing moms who also supplement with formula...when did your periods come back?

    I'm on orthro novum 1/35 , my doctor says to always start your birth control the first day of your next period. If your breastfeeding shouldn't you be on the mini pill though?

    I know if I started my pill mid cycle it would take a week to become effective, start taking on the first day of your period and you are covered straight away. What your doctor say?
