My 3 month old is having firm little poop come out during a bowel movement. Is this constipation? Or normal. Be sounds like.he's straining and in pain when I rub his belly. Any advice?
He's formula fed. He went alot more recently and it was still kinda firm. But I think his bowels may be maturing as he gets older. Dr said that's normal to have firmer stools as they get older but I was concerned.
I dont think that's normal. Same thing happened to my daughter and the doctor told me to put a teaspoon of karo dark syrup in formula once every morning. That completely solved the problem.
@kidman they do get more firm as they get older but hard is not good. If it is hard or little balls it is constipation. We did applejuice mixed with water and it helps him poop easier.
I was just at pedi today not for poop lol but I did ask bc Dillon's is much firmer than it has been and he said firmer stools are normal in bf and formula fed babies as they get older (he's 4 months today and does not eat solids yet, or baby food), so long as they're not hard little balls it's ok. I'd try some bicycle legs and see if it's gas; if not, pedi recommends the karo syrup. Other people suggest juices, but I personally wouldn't do juice in a 3 month old unless doc gives the okay.
