exclusively pumping question

edited January 2012 in Breastfeeding
I have to exclusively pump bc after 10this weeks of trying lo is still not latching right. I have been to consultants and drs trying to get help with it and nothing works but I still want him to get breastmilk. Anyways..since I am trying to build my supply back up I still have to give him some formula but I pump everytime he feeds. Is that bad in his tummy to be giving him breastmilk and formula everyday? Should I build my supply back up and stash it and strictly give him formula for a couple days? I really wanna be able to nurse him but after 10 very stressful weeks I don't see that happening....

  • You can mix your bottles half formula and half bm... Might be softer on the tummy if lo isnt used to formula
  • One thing. Every once counts. It will not hurt him to have both. Atleast he is getting breastmilk. Good for you for not giving up!
  • Thank u...Its hard work for sure but worth every second...I went and rented a hospital grade pump so I get my supply up and bc the other pumps weren't working. I am also on raglan and fenugreek pills. I refuse to give up lol.
  • The First month my daughter was getting my breastmilk & formula. I didnt have enough milk supply. But she was pooping a lot. I think it could of been bc she was a newborn, Or the formula. Now that she only gets breastmilk her tummy is so much better. Only one Or two poopy diaper a day now :) but good job & keep up the good work. My daughter doesnt latch on also. I pump exclusively also
  • See that's another thing im worried about. Weston has been going two days at a time without pooping. Makes me sad bc every couple days his belly hurts so bad and I have tried pedialyte and suppositorys.
  • I think if hes getting formula & bm he should b pooping. I wonder y hes not
  • @grantsgirl88 first you could buy a nipple shield they sell them anywhere i got mine at target it helps with latching problems and it worked wonders for me and also i know that breastfeed babies can go a week with out poop and be fine
