My friend thinks her water maybe leaking slowly...I have heard there is something you can buy that tells you if its amniotic (sp?) Fluid or not? Do you know what its called n where to find them?

  • @homebirthadvocate knows the name of the strips but it is a simple thing the doctor can check
  • Yea, I would say that's nothing to mess with. I'd tell her to head on in. How far along is she? My water started leaking at 38 +2. I knew it was fluid cause no matter what I did I ALWAYS felt wet and it would come in gushes..like it would be slow, I would bend over and then stand up and I would have a flow of fluid. If her water is leaking and its time to have that baby, her lo needs to be out within 24hrs before infections set in.
  • My water broke at 38 weeks and I thought it was pee and kept running to the bathroom then I realized even after going my pants were little wet so I changed them. Then the next pair of paints got wet too so I just knew there was no way I was just peeing my pants a little bit none stop pretty much so we got everything ready and went in. Well I was also having contractions at this point but not bad once. But once we went I I had her 13 hrs after the water thing first started.
  • She is due in March..she said it has been going on for a few days n she has been having pains...she keeps going on long walks (don't ask me why lots of people told her to stop going on walks until she goes to the doctor) she refuses to go in and be checked so I was just going to tell her to go buy those strip things but I have no idea what they are called...my water never leaked and the dr broke it while i was in labor so I never really payed attention to the name I just remember some people talking about them
