question about starting solids...

I am so confused about how and when to feed rice cereal to my 20 week old... does it take the place of a bottle? In addition to one? Cereal and bottle close together? My lo eats about five oz every three hrs if that helps... thanks ladies!

I always give food in addition to bottle. Even if your giving solids, babies get their nutrients from milk, so it shouldn't replace a bottle. My daughter has food at lunch and dinner, but she has her bottle first, so the solids just top her off if she's still a little hungry. Remember "food for fun before age one!"

I always give food before or after my son has his bottle. Sometime's he will eat before, and then drink his whole bottle, and sometime's he'll want the bottle first, and then eat his food.
