Advice please!

edited March 2012 in Getting pregnant
My baby is 4 months old. But I wanting to try for another. I have the mirena so I will need to remove that first. I have had baby fever since after having my little girl and all I keep thinking about is seeing my 2 kids close in age and playing. My question is should I wait longer and has anyone removed their mirena and how long did it take to get pregnant? Thanks :)

  • My cousin had the mirena got it taken out and conceived that weekend. I don't think its too early, I want my kids close in age too.
  • I think as long as both you and your so are ready and your Dr says your safe I don't see why not.

I removed my first mirena after having it a year and a half. I got pregnant in less than 2 months but it wasn't a normal pregnancy, and I miscarried.
As far as you having another one so soon, only you can make that decision if it's right for you and what you want. But my opinion is I think you should really think about it. Maybe write a pros and cons list, sounds a little silly but really will help get you thinking 2 sided rather than be blind sighted by baby fever (which could very well be just a phase your going through). It's common and natural.
I have a 5 year old son and a 9 month old daughter...I wouldn't have it any other way :) he's a great big brother and so nurturing and loving towards his sister. He has never been an once jealous and is a great helper :) I think he might have been more excited than me when i was prego :)
  • Oh my mom had my brother and I back to back, we're Irish twins. It wasn't on purpose but she said it was very difficult. Said it was like having twins.
  • Yeah I had a friend with kids back to back..she had it very hard, and her kids would always fight about anything and everything, they still do and their 5 and 4.
Try taking your little one to a play group for babies and so you can at least test interaction and get a better sense of what 2 little ones so close I age would feel like.
  • Ooh and btw, the fact that you're posting this question here shows you aren't sure what you want. Make sure you know for sure before any removal happens :) oh btw when you remove your mirena earlier than 5 years your insurance might give you a hard time when you want another put back in if the 5 year time spans hasn't gone by. The mirena is surprisingly expensive! I had this issue with my insurance after I had my daughter
