Feeding from a spoon

At what age did you introduce feeding with a spoon to your little one? I am trying to do cereal with my son who is 4 months, and he won't swallow. I don't remember having any issues with my first. My husband thinks my first was older when we started the soon feeding. But I don't remember. Any tips to get him to eat?
He is breast fed only so far(but does take it in a bottle at times). Any tips on getting him to eat with a spoon?

He will be ready when he is ready.. if that makes any sense. You should let your baby be able to swallow before introducing the spoon . That's just my opinion.

Tessa was 1 week shy of 6 months. She took to it right away.

I just started Jack at 4 months. It took him several days to learn to swallow it. It's been a week and he's still learning

Thanks ladies! I figures out was going to take some practice but didn't know of there were any tricks to get them to learn to swallow

Your babies tongue thrust reflex isnt mature yet. It will take some time. Here is a great article by Dr. Sears

4 months, I started with cereal. He will make funny faces the first few days, but it's from confusion from using the spoon

Jaksyn started around 4 months and he took a while to get the hang of it, he is six months now and doing good, but still is not great he does spit it back out a lot.
