IRS Audit Question

I just got served with papers from the IRS saying that I owe them over nine hundred dollars from tax year 2009. I hate H&R block (total ripoff) and of course I used them in 2009. How the hell do I owe nine hundred bucks? They say it is owed by 4/12...considering I am in the process of bankruptcy...there's no way I can pay that. Anyone know if H&R block is responsible seeing that I paid them to prepare my taxes that year?

  • Don't they have a guarantee for that? I may be thinking about Turbo Tax. However, for the most part I think they should bare responsibility. They're the professionals! They charge entirely too much to be making mistakes like that!
  • That's what I'm thinking @mijita. I'm pretty sure they are "guaranteed"!

However, I had an issue when I used them (same yr!) And got a letter about my state taxes being incomplete. I took it back to H&R block and they're like "well, we don't know what they want us to fix."

Id bet this has to do with that.
  • And they wanted me to pay them to take a look at it. And I didn't have an "appointment" so they made me sit there for 2hrs. I wasn't a "priority" because they'd already gotten my money...
  • Oh wow! This is why I do Turbo Tax at home! Although, I don't own a business and they are pretty straight forward.

Good luck! I'm hearing of audits entirely too much this year. Hmmm...
  • My friend uses hr block an got served saying she owes irs 800$ from a few years ago an she has no idea how she used sumone else this time she sed she knows its cuz hr block
  • I thought H&R block had audit support. It should be guaranteed
  • @mijita, right?! I only used them because it was my first year in the military and out of the house and I didn't know any better. LOL. I have done my own taxes ever since then.

@mrz_jackson, so I'm not the only one!

@davidnaadynsmama, I'm going to call them on monday. I'm pretty pissed.
