My dr is asking me if I would like to get on bc after lo so she can have my prescription ready but idk what I want to use. What did you use after your lo was born? And how did you like it?
They recommend the mini pill if you're bfing after lo is born bc too much estrogen can dry your supply. Your doc should've given you options and talked to you about each one..... I was on errin; it was okay. I don't have any complaints about it. I only had 1 period while I was bfing. Now I'm on generic version of loestrin 24fe. My favorite! I was on it (loestrin 24fe) before I got pregnant- no weight gain, 3-4 day painless periods which were VERY light. Hopefully this generic version is similar once a few packs get in my system. Good luck!
I recomend the Depo shot its painless dont have to worry about the dosage the doctor will update your shot every 3 months and the only side effects that you could get from my knowledge is a little hair falling out and a light period when you start or if you forget to get your shot on the 3month due date. You can ask your dr more about it to get full knowledge of it. I've been on it for 2yrs got off of it and got pregnant 4months later they say it can take up to a year to get preggo once off of shot. Different for everyone of course.
@AishaMusa yeah you can't take the depo shot while bfing and it took me a year and a half of ttc after I got off to get pregnant.
@mam082711 she said she'd go over then at my next appt but I wanted to know everyones opinion lol how long did it take you to get pregnant after you stopped loestrin?
@sophiasmom11 they got pregnant on the minipill? Boo. Well I only need something for about 4/5 months until dh deploys after lo is born. Is merina a pill?
@victoriarenee I had stopped taking my birth control in aug 09 bc my fiance was going to be stationed in korea for 15 months. 3 days after he came home in dec 2010 (dec 4th) is when we conceived. Dillon was a surprise lol
@AishaMusa well I didnt know there was so few options while bfing lol I dont want to stick something up me for four months lol After those four months my hubby will be gone so i'm not gonna take anythinh
The nuvaring is low maintenance, local hormones, and safe to use while breastfeeding. I started the nuvaring after my son was born and well, there are 6 years between him and his sister. lol And I am EXTREMELY fertile (pregnant in August 2010, miscarriage...pregnant again in January 2011, second miscarriage...pregnant a 3rd time in April 2011 and delivered my healthy baby girl in January 2012). I was even ovulating when I went back for my postpartum pap! (UGH) Up until 2 weeks ago, we were breastfeeding at night (10 hours) and supplementing during the day and I still had a period and ovulated before my postpartum appt at 8 weeks pp. Nuvaring is my choice this time around due to convenience and low hormones. I would recommend it to anyone who hates remembering to take a pill, but doesn't want a more permanent birth control.
