Important serious question?

edited April 2012 in Health
My fiance had a c section on march 22. Every since we got home her condition has been getting worse. The incision leaks blood but it smells so bad even after cleaning it and showering. She throws up constantly. Like every 45 mins she's throwing up. She feels weak and can't hardly do anything. My moms been watching the baby while im in work. She says she has bad chest pain and hurts bad, and she lays and crys. She was at 2 hospitals last friday for almost 18 hrs total. The first one said it was only a UTI but that didn't make sense so we went t anyother hospital. The said it was infected and gave her meds and stuff, but it hasn't been getting better. The earliest we could get an appt to see the obgyn people was today at 330. Has anyone had this problem before. Is there something the doctors are missing. Im concerned and can't seem to find anything on the internet realted to it. Anyone have any ideas

  • The incision should not smell. Mine did bleed a little, but she needs to go to the er immediately for those symptoms
  • I had chest pains for a few days because its the air escaping from surgery (thats what I was told) but its been long enough, it should be out by now. But my release forms said to go to the hospital immediately if my incision had an odor or had pus coming out. The vomiting also worries me. Not only because.of why its happening but because that could tear her incision open. Please get her to a dr!
  • @captivated @homebirthadvocate what do you think? (couldnt think of who else to tag)
  • She sounds septic. Get her to the ER now. That's life-threatening.
  • I would really think her incision may need restitched back up and it is probably infected. I threw up the day after my csection and it was the worse pain I've ever felt! It was like all those stomach muscle were reripping back up. She is probably in a ton of pain from throwing up, and maybe her chest hurts from throwing up so much. She def needs to see the doctor and I'm not sure as to why she is throwing up. I dont know why I ever did, but thankfully it only happened once... maybe she is nervous about being a mom or has anxiety or an uneasy feeling that is making her throw up?
  • @my2boys I think its an infection making her throw up
  • Sounds infected which is very serious. There is a high likelihood that they will be unable to re-stitch it right away because if there is an infection, stitching it would trap the infection inside. While she was at the ER, they would have drawn labs and if she is experiencing an infection, it would have shown in her levels. However, that was friday. This is Tuesday. An infection could have sprung up since then. Good luck!
  • @davidnaadynsmama, is right. If it is an infection, vomiting is the number one symptom.
  • @DavidnAadynsMama yea that would make sense, my first csection I got staff infection on the inside of the incision but I was never sick from it, it only had stuff coming out. Maybe because it was caught early. I would imagine if the infection is that bad and far along though you would be throwing up.
  • I had her in 2 different ERs. They both did blood and urine tests. One hospital said it was only a urinary tract infection. I thought it was bs so we went to another hospital and they said its infected. They gave her a antibiotic prescribtion( I forget the name) but she's not getting better. She doesn't want to go back to the hospital cause she thinks there miss diagnosing her. She wants to go see the obgyn doctor so were going today.
  • Make sure she goes. It sounds really bad
  • They are hard enough to recover from without infections & vomiting.
  • A c-section infection can be fatal, get her there ASAP! That's very serious. Hope they help her soon, keep us updated
  • She needs a round of IV antibiotics. Sounds like the antibiotics they gave her are not working for what type of infection she has. If they were effective, she would have seen results within 24 hours. They need to give her the proper type of antibiotic. Keep us updated!
  • we are at the dr right now. I will let you guys know what they say
  • Ugh I hope she gets the help she needs! I got an infection after mine and it was horrible! The only thing I didn't have that you described was vomiting. I kept going to the er too. They had to do several types of antibiotics. Hour she gets better soon!
  • Definitely update. I hope everything is alright with her
  • I hope everything is okay :(
  • Bump any updated?? :/
  • Well we are waiting in the hospital to take a catscan. They think that the pain and vomitting might have something to do with her gallbladder. They said the incision looked fine. It must be getting better cause I have a waste basket full of bloody stinky guaze pads from the incision over the last couple of days, but of course it wasn't leaking or anything at the drs office lol
  • Hoping everything is ok.....
