Balls? ¤Update¤

edited April 2012 in Babies Health
So we had our 6 month check up yesterday and everything was good! Except when she was checking his sac she could only find one ball. She checked all around that area but couldn't find it anywhere. So now he is getting a ultrasound tomorrow to see if they can find it. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Or what will happen if they don't find it? Or what if it's stuck up in there somewhere? Sorry for all the ?s just not sure what to expect.

Yeah, it may have not descended yet. Im not sure at what age they "drop"
  • I read on there they usually descend around 6 months. But idk? I just hope nothing is wrong and it's just in there hiding!

  • Well I know he's got one so hopefully kids will be no problem for him! Thanks everybody for the input. I guess all I can really do is wait and see what they find!
  • The way I read it, and I may have misunderstood, but there is a big difference between them not dropping and not being there at all. If it hasnt dropped, there are steps they can take to make it descend. Surgical & non surgical. Hope everything turns out alright for you and your lo. My hubbys grandpa only has one and he had 3 girls. So with only one, he can still have children but only one gender? Im not 100% sure if that part is correct though
  • Most doctors believe that boys who've had a single undescended testicle will have normal fertility potential and testicular function as adults, while those who've had two undescended testicles may be more likely to experience diminished fertility as adults.

In some boys, the testicles (or "testes") may appear to be outside of the scrotum from time to time, which can raise the concern of an undescended testicle. Some of these boys may have the condition known as retractile testes. This is a normal condition in which the testes reside in the scrotum but on occasion temporarily retract or pull back up into the groin.

There is no need to treat a retractile testicle, since it is a normal condition, but it might require examination by a pediatric specialist to distinguish it from an undescended testicle.
(if this is the case^^ then maybe it just wasnt present during the exam?)
  • My nephew had only one come down. Dr didnt notice till he was 7. He had to have the one up removed. Surgery was pretty easy and he recovered fast.
  • My boyfriend only has one (but its cause his brother kicked him in the nuts when he was little and busted the other so it had to be removed) and has gotten me pregnant twice first time I miscarried right before 12 weeks second pregnancy went smoothly and we now have a 6 month old little girl.. I'm no help sorry but here's a bump
  • Thank you everyone! Our appt. Is at 3:30 today so we will see how it goes and will let yall know. Hopefully maybe it's what @kristaf22 s son has and is up there hiding. But idk cause I have never felt it in there. @chelcie89 @mommyof3girls @davidnaadynsmoma
  • Hope everything turns out ok keep me updated! Praying for y'all
  • Ok so I got crappy news. They found the one we knew was there but it moved way up where it shouldn't be. So it probably needs help getting back down. They couldn't find his other ball still :( So now they wanna do a MRI to see if they can find it that way. Which means he will have to be put to sleep, which absolutely terrifies me! This sucks :(
  • Omg. I hope he's ok. :(
  • Thanks @fate me too!
  • My son had to get an MRI a few weeks ago and it wasn't as bad as I thought It was sad seeing him put to sleep cuz in less then 5 secs he was out cold n tht was shocking to see then after was sad n funny at the same time cuz he was like a drunk lil monkey swatting at nothing lol
  • Poor thing I hope everything works out okay :) will be praying for your little one.
  • @mackenzies_mama2010 I'm hoping I wont freak out. It scares the shit outta me! Like what if they do something wrong or give too much medicine?! I know it's their job and they do it everyday but everyone has an off day! @Jules thank you!
  • Yeah when they put the meds in his Iv to put him to sleep n he was out they lifted him up n his head was just all floppy it made me sad n I cried lol
  • @BigBelly my 4yr old has a droopy eye lid and needs to have surgery on it and i keep putting it off because of the same reason.. it scares the crap out of me for them to put her under for it. Makes my wanna throw up just thinking about it. Sorry u and ur kiddo have to go thru all this.
  • @mommyof3girls sorry for you and your girl too! @mackenzies_mama2010 I thought it was just a mask thing they put over their face for a few secs. Now your freakinv me out more lol

  • They didn't do the mask with my son n he's 6 months old they did it all thru Iv :( he was not happy bout that
  • Damin is only 6 months old :( I'm so sad for my baby boy. @mackenzies_mama2010 But it's gotta be done so...
  • That is very true I would be worried too very normal don't stress too much try your best to think about the good outcome. And again I'm sorry your lo has to go through this.
  • So it's been 6 months and Damin is now 13 months today :)). His one ball is still not down and the other one is down maybe half the time. We have an appointment set for Monday. We're hoping surgery is not needed but i think he will have to have it done! I've read online that it's better to get it done at a young age. AHHHHH I'm freaking out but i know it's all for the best!
  • I hope all goes well!
