just saw something upsetting.

i was just at the shop and there was a lady in there with her disabled son. he was perhaps 7 or 8. anyway he was touching the penny sweets, so she started hitting him in front of everybody. mind you, it wasnt a tap on the wrist but a full whack, or three. enough to make him cry. that was bad enough, but then she got him in a firemans lift and i cant describe what she did next, kond of shook him, but so hard it jolted his whole little body. i was in the queue on the other side of the shop but im not one for holding back, so i said, if you shook him like that as a baby, theres no wonder your child has a disability. not true im sure, but i just couldnt believe what i was seeing and i couldnt get my words out right. i cant imagine what she does behind closed doors if she acts that way in public. i feel so sad for this boy. i do occasionally smack josh but NEVER like that. my god, i cant believe some people.

  • i agree Kat, im usually quite a tough cookie and not one for telling others how to raise their kids but it really disturbed me. im going back to the shop in a few and if i can find any info im thinking of ringing social services tomorrow morning as its a bank holiday here today and nowhere is open. so sad.
  • :( poor baby. That breaks my heart just to hear.
  • Be careful not speaking out... In some cases you can be prosecuted for seeing something like that and not reporting it.
  • Yes hun, you need to make the call! It can be incredibly stressful looking after a child with disabilities and this lady may need some support. She may also be unable to keep her child safe (from herself) and need him taking into care. That poor little boy :-(
