It only happened on the west coast since the sun had set back east. I didn't get to witness it first hand, but it went dark and creepy out, with strange shadows and everything. Very neat!
Yeah it was cool. That's the 2nd one I have seen in my life. It was a lil creepy, cause out was a woes kind of dark...but still light out lol. Cool none the less.
im in cali n around 6-7 it was real bright to look at but there was a circle inside the sun. so the sun looked likea ring. but it was a weird darkness out. my eyes hurt tho lol
@lafiitz89 you may want to get your eyes checked out, you should never directly look at a solar eclipse as it will fry your retinas and could lead to blindness!! Your eyes probably hurt from starting at it. I hope your eyes are alright.
Well, I mean to quickly glance at it is alright. But, to sit and stare at it, eclipse or not, is bad.
Basically, you wouldn't stare directly at the sun on a normal day, because it is extremely bright and you probably couldn't because it would be too strong, right? Well during an eclipse, it seems like it isn't as bright because the moon is hiding parts of it, but you're starting at it for longer since it doesn't seem as strong and therefore, you're causing more damage because you're starting longer.
It sounds silly, but I'm sure if you Google it, you'll see what I'm talking about. You're either supposed to view with special eclipse glasses, or #14 welding goggles. Regular sunglasses won't even cut it. It's a lot worse than you would think!
