why all of the sudden...

edited June 2012 in Sleep
Is it so hard to put my lo to bed? She use to go down so easy and now it takes us a good hour or two! It also sucks that the later she goes to bed the early she gets up and that's just not cool..she went to bed around 9:30 last night and was up by 4am! She usually goes down at 7:30 and sleeps till 7am. But all of the sudden she doesn't want to, she fights sleep hard core. I even let her cry it out tonight until I couldn't handle it any more. We usually let her fall asleep in our bed(yea I know wasn't a good idea to begin with) and then move her to her crib once she is deeper in sleep, well now once she is layed in there she wakes up instantly and takes like 20min to fall back to sleep. She use to be a really good sleeper and now all of the sudden she isn't. She'll be 7 months on the 8th. Does anyone else's lo do this or have luck in this area?

  • Mine was going to bed fine (I rock him) but he'd wake up about 10 times a night. He's 7 months also. he did that for about 3 Weeks. He's gotten much better. last night he woke up a lot cuz he has a cold. Its tough but maybe its just a phase. Good luck and I hope it doesn't last long!
  • How long has your baby been fighting sleep? My baby did that for two weeks straight. He is 9 months. His Dr said he was doing it because he either wanted to play or because he was teething. he said to give him a little bit of Tylenol before bed and confort him if he cried but not to pick him up. He stoped on his own and is now back to falling asleep on his own. He definitely wanted to play but I think the Tylenol helped any teething that was bothering him. Sorry I know it sucks!! Just keep an eye on your baby and make sure its just at night and not something that's bothering her during the day too.
  • Mine will be 7 months tomorrow and is doing the same exact thing! It's so frustrating she used to sleep really good and the rare times she did wake in the night all she needed was her pacifier and she would roll over and fall back to sleep. But now she won't even open her mouth for it and turns her head back and forth and takes an hour to go back to sleep sometimes. I was thinking it might be teething but I don't know
  • Omg mine is doing the same for.almost two weeks now and I cant handel it anymore. He will be 7 mons soon. He goes down.fine and everything but wakes up every night exactly at 3:30 and is up til 5:30... playing!!! Then screams at 5:30 cause hes tired but cant fall asleep... which means I barely get any sleep now (dh works nights)... plus he wakes up few times ans wants his paci. So my sleep gets interrupted pretty much every 1-2 hrs... worse than a new born! Anyone have any advice???
  • Im pretty sure it's just something that 7 month olds go through. Mine just went through the same thing for about 3 weeks. It was horrible!! She started sleeping through the night at 2.5 months, so I wasnt used to the lack of sleep! She'll be 8 months next Tuesday and is doing better.

  • Thanks @everyone I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this. Most of the time I feel like I have to hold her down just so she will stop moving and realize how tired she really is and then falls asleep.
  • Is it the same for naps too? @sands3 @noahsmommy @lilliansmom @babyhope7 @1stwoodsbaby. I have been fighting with her all day to take one. She won't unless I'm holding her and I can't do that all day, I have laundry and cleaning to do from when the hubby was off.
  • No. Jack takes naps just fine
  • Count ur self lucky urs at least takes nap.
  • @sands3 I am jealous! It is 2pm here and I just now got her to take one...she has been up since 7am. She usually takes about a 3 hour one a couple hours after she wakes up. As @candy101 said you are lucky!
  • Sometimes Keegan will take naps just fine, other times she fights those too. I'm just ready for my normal sleeping baby back.
  • Well that lasted not even 20 minutes. Looks like nothing is getting done today.

Same as mine @1stwoodsbaby I'm ready to be able to clean my house again.
  • I rock Jack to sleep for naps and at night. He usually takes 3 naps per day, 1-2 hours long. He just wakes up a lot at night.
  • Aadyn is pretty close to 7 months. Hes been sleeping through the night (10-12hrs) since 6wks old and now, every night this week, he has woken up crying 3 or 4 times a night. Seeing everyone elses story makes me think its pretty normal. My guess is either teething or maybe a growth spurt(sp). Good luck mama. I hope we all start sleeping better soon lol
  • @sands3 I rocked her to sleep today, usually she naps in her swing so that's almost the same thing.

@davidnaadynsmommy once she is asleep, she's asleep, its getting her to go to sleep is our problem.
  • Today she won't take a nap again...she took a 40 minute nap in her swing this morning when she usually takes a 3he one. She is now asleep in our bed I hope she takes a good nap now..I have put pillows all around her.
