I am 20 Weeks pregnant and i had a Blood Screen for birth defects and it came back ABNORMAL. BUT then when my doctor saw my ultrasound the next day she said everything looked great and made her feel alot better. But now i have to go see a Genetic Counselor and get additional testing. But i dont have NO genetic disorders in my family or my husbands. Why is this happening? Someone help!

hon, please try not to worry, the test that they do is known to come back abnormal OFTEN and the babies are fine, i think the stats are something like 90% of the scans that showed abnormal tests actually resulted in healthy babies at birth. Im sure everythings fine.

@joshneviesmum is right. They come back abnormal often and sometimes even give false positives. Thats why we chose to opt out of the tests completely. IMO, unless you are planning to abort bc of a defect, then they arent worth doing at all. It just gets people worried, usually for no reason at all. Take a deep breath and relax. Im sure everything is just fine hunni
