my little man is 3 today

Today is his birthday. I feel horrible because I couldn't get him anything, not even a cake. I'm going to get him something when we have some money. But I can't help but feel rotten. Being in a homeless shelter and everything. He doesn't seem to care but I am dying inside for him not having a great birthday. :(
