well test results ROUTINE now known :-/

The doctor wants to see me to discuss them. So I am guessing that it is not good news coming my way today. Wife is at work so I have my sister in law taking me in now. Appointment is in half an hour and I feel absolutely sick to my stomach.

I guess I had accepted that it wasn't going to be good but now that I'm about to know I don't want to. Will update after appointment depending how I am.

  • Praying for good results!
  • Hopefully he just wants to tell you good news in person!
  • @1stWoodsBaby thanks.
@MorgDeeBee I can only hope but unfortunately my doctor isn't the sort to normally do that. I am quite prepared for it to not be good but if it is bad I have no idea how to tell wife and kids later.

  • OK so feeling was right and am not sure how I'm feeling at moment. Results came back positive for cancerous cells but unsure as to what yet. They have booked me in for a full scan to check for any other issues but they believe it was localised since no other issues in that area.

They gave me options of further treatment but could see I wasn't taking anything in so have another appointment tomorrow with a specialist. They think that it will only take minimal treatment to give me an all clear but I really don't know whatto think at the moment.

I don't even know where to start with talking to family.

  • Well my wife got home last night and saw it in my face straight away. We haven't told the kids yet because I really don't have a clue how to do it. Wife and I spoke a little bit after the kids went to bed but there wasn't many answers I could give her. Haven't really slept though last night as just couldn't get my brain to shut off.

@mommyof3girls at the moment I would be more pleased if it was a little hill instead of another mountain because my legs are sore lol.
  • I worked on the oncology unit for over two years and in that time I don't remember seeing any testicular cancer patients. Its very easily treated as an out patient, so please don't get discouraged! I know the big C is very scary and intimidating, but our technology these days is very promising. Keep your head up, everything will be ok!
  • @Mijita thanks yeah I haven't spoken to specialist yet but welcome any info anyone has.
  • Depending on your diagnosis/prognosis, you'll probably do either radiation therapy, chemo therapy or both. You'll more than likely be able to participate in all activities with minimal discomfort. Our neighbor just went through both chemo and radiation therapy for prostate cancer and he continued to exercise and swim everyday, and he was in his mid 60's. You are young and very strong-willed, you'll be just fine. I hope you feel better!
  • Oh and testicular cancer is one of the most curable and treatable cancers out there!!! Forgot to throw in that tidbit.
