  • @HomeBirthAdvocate, EXACTLY! This is why we have a low success rate because all the discouragement surrounding mothers, especially new ones. Not only the media, but their family and physicians. It's pretty sad.

  • I agree @homebirthadvocate! I have been trying to help my best friend on her BFing journey to no avail. The doctors and nurses have convinced her to stop trying and formula feed. Very frustrating.
  • @HomeBirthAdvocate, I never was much one for a debate -- I suck! I think these articles, especially the breastfeeding ones are very insightful. Many moms here feel as though they are discriminated against because they chose not to or couldn't breastfeed. These are some examples as to why that occurs. Media contradicts themselves, but states like New York are trying novice initiatives to promote breastfeeding. A small step in the right direction.
