dairy question!

So im doing almond milk with my 1 year old son and i do not want to give him dairy. This may sound dumb but idk.. are eggs dairy too? Like i know they are classified as dairy but are they really dairy? Like would they have the same thing in them that milk and cheese would that would cause allergies?

No, eggs are not a dairy product and will not cause the same allergy that milk does, but some may be allergic to the proteins in egg whites.

Dairy products are milk derived products that retain calcium, although it can get confusing. The allergies caused by milk (dairy) are the milk proteins caseins and whey. Those that are lactose intolerant are not allergic, but rather they don't have adequate enzyme to break down the milk sugar lactase. Therefore, they can't drink milk, but can eat yogurt where the lactase has been fermented.

I hope I answered your question.
