for those that use jar food

When you heat up baby food (I set a glass jar in hot water) and if baby doesn't eat it all do you keep and re heat what's left?
sometimes my lo will eat a full small jar worth and sometimes less than half. I feel like its a huge waste if I toss it but not sure if its safe to reheat

They say you can if you don't feed from the jar...like put half in a bowl to feed then save what's in the jar if baby doesn't want it. The reason is because if you're feeding from the jar saliva can get in it from the spoon and will start breaking down the food and spoil it pretty quickly.

Once you heat you introduce/stimulate microorganisms that spoil food; this is especially true if you feed from the jar. Throw it out, or serve half in a different container and then heat.

I don't heat it when I first open the jar. But I do refrigerate and reheat what she doesnt eat. I put it in a microwavable bowl and heat it about 13 seconds.

@Wilsomom; No, technically you were correct. HOWEVER, given the gut flora of babies, some may not tolerate or fight those organisms as easily as an adult would. It just depends on the baby and the level of maturity (”readiness”) in their GI's.

Hmmm. so to be on the safe side, toss what she doesn't eat from the jar she's Fed from. She's so inconsistent with the amount she eats its hard to know how much to warm up.

@Caroline8_p I never heat them up either not even when they come straight of the fridge...my daughter never even liked her bottles warm though she likes cold food

haha yeah for some reason baby food my daughter loves cold and room temp but she will eat what im eating warm

Jack would never eat it cold. I warmed it up then threw out any uneaten
