making your own

edited September 2012 in Pregnant
So I was talking to my mother in law about the baby bedding I want and how its so expensive I was bummed I don't want to spend a lot but at the same time don't want to just settle and still pay 100$ she said that she could make a patch quilt with any material I wanted and put lace around it.. Then we were talking about bumper pads she said she could find one at the good will and reupholster it.. And for a fitted sheet I could find any where .. Our only problem is the skirt... Has anyone ever made their own? How did it turn out.. Any recommendations?

  • It's super easy. I made Couple for fun even one that looks like tutu. You just cut out the middle rectangle part from whatever fabric u want no one will see that part. Then just measure one side at a time and.cut out double amount the length if u want it to look like ruffles if not then cut same amount as the length (like if you're doing the front) and figure out how long u want it to touch the floor and then just sew one piece at a time with the triangle u cut it that means u end up with 4 pieces for each side. The reason u don't want to just cut 1 long piece is u want the separation it looks better once it's on the crib.
