Moms who have given birth vaginaly more than once!

edited September 2012 in Pregnant
As some of you know, I just found out I'm pregnant with my second! I wanted to know how was labor the 2nd time around? How was it after? With my son I felt like a bus ran over me, will this one be the same? Also were the "firsts " still the same? I.e. first kicks, water breaking... Thanks for the help!

  • With my first labor was quick and with my second it was quicker and I didn't have to get stitchesthe second time. My water didn't break with neither. After my second I felt great....I hope I helped
  • My second pregnancy was harder, I felt movement around 14 weeks, and I also looked like I was 5 months alone when I was only 16 weeks. Birth was easier and way quicker. Had contractions start at 2am,water broke at 9am, and had her at 4:08pm. I was already 7cm when I got to the hospital...so everything went super quick! After wasn't so bad. I already knew what to do for the pain, so it was pretty easy.
  • @Jazzie thank you for answering my questions, you did help
  • @EricaK22 @Mom2ING uh oh this is gonna be one of those everyone is different experiences huh?
  • I had to be induced with my second at 36+2 but my labor was 7hrs and he was out in 3 pushes(only 5mins top) no tearing or cutting. I woke up the next day and told my fiancé I didn't even feel like I had a baby but he was only 4lbs 6oz... I did feel movement earlier with him also
  • My pregnancies were similar. I felt movement around 15 weeks with the second. First labor was 17 hours and some minor labia tear. Second was 2 hours with no tearing.
  • so far sounds like quicker labor and not too much pain. whooooo some what relieved here
  • I felt amazing after my first. Never a bit of pain. Labir was a breeze. With my second I felt kicks, movements a lot later. I was induced with both. Labor was even easier the second time. But recovery of the second (im only 3 days pp) is awful! My vagina hurts, my uterus shrinking and cramping is miserable, and my back/side muscles are sooo sore.
  • @1stWoodsBaby that's how I felt after with my first n I'm trying to prep myself for it again :( man.....labor sucks
  • @cupcake22 that's rough :( I'm scared again ha
  • Well it's a little early bc I'm due any day now but I can tell you my first baby came earlier (38+1), this one is still cooking at 39+1. My waters broke at the hospital shortly before I gave birth. Total time in painful labor about 7 hours. Hopefully I can update about number two shortly!!
As far as kicks I don't think I felt them any earlier than with first
  • After my first I couldn't walk for like two weeks, I kid you not. I had soooo many stiches it wasn't even funny..I swore I was never doing it again lol...a little over a year later I gave birth to my second...labor itself was similar to my.first, but my second came out in two pushes, like it was nothing.. I had no tearing at all...IT WAS AMAZING LOL when I say I felt like I could run a marathon after she was born, I'm not kidding. I was dreading the amount of pain that after labor held.for me, and was so excited to find it so different than my first. My son was 7 8oz and my.daughter was 6 11oz, not sure if it made a diff but it could have. Also dont know if it made a diff or not but I did everything in my power to try not to tear lol...I did perenial massages and primrose oil starting at 35 weeks...I've convinced myself it worked and will do that same thing when I have my 3rd in May lol...all will be good and I hope your second is smooth sailing! :)

It got easier. I never had a tough time tho.. I pushed for 17 min with my first and my second and third came out by my 2nd or third push lol. The first time was the most "painful" because that's the only time I had stitches

First was the longest at 7 hours. my second labor was my shortest. Third a little longer.
  • With my second I went to hospital at 9.30am because I thought I had a urine infection, whilst waiting for tests they checked me and confirmed it wasn't labour. At about 11ish the "urine infection" started hurting a bit more. At 11.40 I grabbed a midwife and got her to check me, at 11.45 my baby girl was born. I did end up with a few stiches and she was born partially in her amniotic sac, oh and the hospital cleaner held my hand as she was in the room at the time lol. After pains were horrendous though (these have gotten increasingly worse (ive just had number 4) but hell there worth it. Oh and it was my due date xxx
  • @2600wifey @coltensmamma @myHEARTZx3 @cheryl74 thank you so much ladies, you have been a big help :D
  • My first was alot harder...my second was cake. I ended up having him in a matter of an hour after getting to the hospital, he kinda popped out lol. I did it natural. The first had an epidural...which I think made it worse the next day I felt horrible. My third I did natural also and that was the way to go. The first was a girl second two boys and they just seemed to be easier pregnancies all together. With my first tho I had a diff job on my feet for 11 hours a day so that was a big factor also. Good luck:) I think you'll do great, you also know more of what to expect the 2nd time.
  • Both of mine were very easy....I recouped real quick :)
  • Both my labors were about the same length but I was induced with my second. Dr cut me the first time and I tore the second time, my daughters are 13 months apart. My second recovery was so much better and I was not in as much pain as my first. I rather tare then get cut now, so much less pain imo.
  • @sehra4177 I had an epi with my first but I wanna go natural so bad I'm just scared. I'm not.good with pain. @pregoagainYAYbl lucky. my first was slow recovery. @Joshuaswifey_711 ooo sounds rough, you go girl lol
  • Go for it, I can say it wasn't nearly as painful as people say. You have so much going on that you don't notice the pain. The 2nd wasn't a choice I didn't have time for an epidural bc they sent me home I was back in an hour and a half full blown labor...water broke as soon as I hit the bed...they threw on the stirrups. Dr just barely got there and he was born. The third I wanted no epidural, bc doing it both ways I preferred the natural way. I nearly psyched myself out towards the end but the nurse I had kept telling me to breathe which really really helped. Now all my kids I wasn't in labor long at all my last I went in at 430 pm had him at 6pm. What I would suggest is let them know you want to do it natural but tell them you may want an epidural if it gets too hard. That's what I did for the 3rd. The thing about natural is I was up walking around not even an hour after having them. My first I needed help getting to the bathroom my legs were numb. I almost passed out in the shower the next day I felt absolutely horrible. The second and third I felt great:)
  • @sehra4177 oh wow. I almost passed out in the b room after labor. everything went black and I sat down. thankfully the nurse was right next to me. so scary. ahhhh I'm nervous but excited to do this again :D
  • Yeh that's one reason I am glad my sec I really had no option for an epidural bc I got to experience both and realized natural for me I felt so much better:)
You'll be great you're a pro now! Just tell them like I said you want to try natural, if anything if they know you may want an epidural at least they would know.
  • In my experience my first baby was easier n less painful.i just had to push 3 times n she was out. My second was hard he was big so i had to push for about 30 minutes. He was 8lbs 7oz. I had to get stitches both times and the cramping after the second birth was really painful....
