edited March 2011 in Health
I had my second appointment today and heard the heart beat but I also found out I'm RH negative. And that I have an antibody in my blood. Its antibody M can anyone give me information on this? My ob referred me to a specialist for the antibody thing

  • Really? There's no one out there that can help?
  • The only thing I've heard about with blood types is you will probably have antibiotics while giving birth and possibly the rest of your pregnancy. You can probably Google it. But try not to worry. Good luck. I had my 2nd appointment today too
  • There's different antibodies in the blood, like A+ and A-, if it's caught early it's not that serious. You'll probably get some shots and some treatments to make sure there are no complications. Without treatment it could be bad, but modern technology is wonderful. Cheer up hun, not so bad news. :)
  • Well I did Google it and there was barely anything about it at all my doctor couldn't even explain it to me
  • You'll be fine and ill explain why. What happens is if you're rh- and your baby is rh+ your body freaks out and sees it as a threat to your health. The good news is that, if its your first pregnancy you don't have to worry so much because your body hadn't built up antibodies yet. If you're pregnant for the second, or so on, they'll give you some medication or shots. Years ago this would have been an issue but thankfully we have modern medicine. :)
  • They will have to give u a shot I believe so your baby isn't attacked from ur body rejecting it.
