Our future

Seriously, I heard Mit Dumass talking about the weather affecting his campaign. How about if you care about this country and the people in it sooooo much you get off your ass & start the ball rolling with relief in the areas we know are going to be the hardest hit. Maybe he should help with efforts now to get people what they are going to need. Because to me a presidential candidate should all ready be thinking, hhhhmmm bet it would help my chances if I stop campaigning to help with this “frankenstorm”. As you can tell Mit Dumass will not get a vote here, vent over that just really pissed me off.

  • Lol. I can't stand they guy either!
  • Well said! Just before I read your post, I was looking across the street at my neighbors' Halloween graveyard scene....and I thought, "wow, the scariest part of that display is the Romney/ryan sign in the front!"

Scarier yet is the number of people who Romney despises (minorities, women, poor people, the middle class, police, firefighters, teachers and pretty much anyone who has to work for a living...so if you are a minority working mom, he would rather you just drop off the face of the planet...) who plan on voting for him!
  • I am a woman and very poor so....I guess I'm dumb since I'm voting for him :-(
  • Ur not.dumb @jnlelrod I'm not voting for either of the two I'm poor with my second.baby on the way and I just don't feel either r responsible enough to run this country when allhey did was fight like 10 year olds
  • @jnlelrod I hope you don't think I was implying that you are dumb! Stop me if I'm wrong, but I can only assume you plan on voting for Romney because of one or more ideologies. If that's true, that's one thing we have in common. We're just on opposite sides of the spectrum. My family has money (that we have worked for), therefore I feel its my obligation to help the people who aren't as fortunate. Even though Romney would be better for our portfolio, I still plan on voting for the guy who will help the poor, disenfranchised, ostracized and the mass of hard-working Americans (that may not include myself). But, I have to admit when I hear of people from these groups planning to vote for him, I can't help but think "why should I help you if your not willing to help yourself" (then I remind myself that we're both placing ideology before circumstance).
  • Yea..he came to our town instead. Traffic was ridiculous! I'm not voting for him either. We just had the vice president down here too. Which makes me laugh cause we are a tiny little town.
  • Im not voting period because no matter who you vote for us poor people loose. No matter what. I havent really followed politics cuz im not smart enough. That and I havent voted ever. But frlm what I have heard nither one of the canidet(sp) are good for this contry. Its kinda depressing that no one wants to help us who need it and who are trying really hard. I may not be the smartest girl, but I have been through hell and back a couple times. I am trying to have an ok life. But its really hard. Sorry. I had to put my two cents in.
  • @math_mommy how do you see Obama has helped the poor and disenfranchised in the last 4 years? (Not meant argumentatively, just really wondering your opinion. ;-) )

Well, for starters 30 million previously uninsured Americans will have health care coverage in 2014 (assuming Romney doesn't get elected and repeal it "on day #1" like he says he's going to)

Attached to that bill was legislation to reform the pell grant program (free money for college based on income). It reduces interest and will use what was subsidy payment money (to banks) to provide more pell grants (like $36 million worth) to students.

Here in Michigan the auto industry is obviously important. Primarily because it was a source of jobs that pay a living wage where no college degree is required. When the industry bottomed out, it left many hard-working people unemployed. Obama made federal equity investments inGM and Chrysler. That money was an integral part of the industry's turnaround.

I've got more...but, I gotta get my kids dressed. The first 2 are the most important to me because I believe all Americans should have the right to health care and education (in my ideal America, public colleges and universities would be free to everyone and places in those schools would be awarded based on merit)
  • I'm not really "pro-obama" as much as I'm "anti-romney".

@angel26 it's sad that in this country's current system we only have 2 choices for president unless you want to "throw your vote away" (I voted for Nader in 2000 because I never in a million years thought bush would get elected...) Yes, most politicians are out of touch with poor people. But there is a BIG difference between Romney-rich (inherented money and investment income) and Obama-rich (earned income primarily from book sales). While I don't believe Obama will do that much to ease the struggles of the poor, I know for sure that Romney will only make life REALLY worse for the impoverished, and low-middle class citizens...he has said so blatantly.

One of my friends has said he's not voting because he's making a statement that neither is a good choice. But, not voting for a statement appears the same as not voting for apathy or ignorance.

The way I see it is everyone has to deal with the hand they're dealt. Some people have been dealt sh*tty hands. Either you can sit back and let sh*t happen to you, or you can stand up and fight....and you seem like a fighter; from what I've read (sorry, silently stalking your story) you have the drive to persevere.

If you can't bring yourself to choose between the choices for president, at least vote locally (proposals are more likely to affect your daily life anyway). Don't listen to the TV ads; read the proposed legislation. At least vote on one or 2 things...you'll find it really empowering!!!
  • @math_mommy thank you. But im not registered and I believe its to late. Maybe I can next year.
